Saif Ali Khan had an awkward moment in front of his daughter, Sara Ali Khan when Karan Johar made fun of him by revealed how Amrita Singh threw the actor out of the house.
Saif Ali Khan's first marriage with Amrita Singh was a rollercoaster of happiness and difficult days. Their love story, which started on a fiery note, ended up being toxic as Saif's constant linkup affected Amrita. Their relationship turned sour, so much so that Saif once revealed Amrita would often abuse him and his family. However, not many know that Karan Johar left Saif visibly uncomfortable in front of his daughter, Sara Ali Khan when he brought up that the actor was thrown out of the house by his ex-wife, Amrita Singh.
Karan Johar is famous for taking digs at his celebrity friends for subtly bringing up the topic of controversies on his famous show, Koffee With Karan. In 2018, when Sara Ali Khan made her 'Koffee' debut with her father, Saif Ali Khan, in the sixth season of Karan's show, he left the two visibly uncomfortable. Though Sara Ali Khan handled it with utmost grace, Saif looked uncomfortable.
It all started with Karan heaping praise for Saif and how he has been his lucky mascot as he shot the first-ever episode of his chat show on the actor's birthday, August 16, 2004. Not only this, Karan added another unwanted detail of how it happened right after a day Saif was thrown out by his ex-wife, Amrita. He said:
"Saif is my lucky mascot. Because the first episode I shot for 'Koffee With Karan' was with Saif. I clearly remember it was on his birthday August 16, 2004. It was a day after your mom threw him out of the house."
Sara, who was left shocked, wondered about Independence Day, and then she went on to wish 'Happy Independence to both of them'. It was definitely a bold way of dealing with the uncomfortable encounter about her parents' ugly separation. However, Saif called Karan, 'a slick guy'.
It was in the early 2000s when rumours were rife that the love in Saif and Amrita's love marriage was over. In 2004, they divorced each other. While Amrita kept mum on her personal life, Saif revealed how he was tired of the constant fights and getting yelled at. According to reports, Saif Ali Khan gave his ex-wife, Amrita Singh, Rs. 5 crores as alimony to finalise the divorce.
For the unversed, Amrita was twelve years older than Saif. Despite it all, Saif had married Amrita in a secret wedding in October 1991. After this, they had their share of ups and downs and remained with each other for almost ten years until their divorce. They parted ways on a sour note. A lot was written about their relationship.
Well, the ex-couple, Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan, have moved on in their lives. They are co-parenting their kids, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Sara Ali Khan, while Saif Ali Khan is happily married to Kareena Kapoor Khan.
