In an era, when actresses were type casted in a certain way, Sharmila ji had never hesitated from taking off-beat roles. She had stood like a pillar of strength for her son, Saif, when he had decided to get married to Amrita Singh, who was ten years elder to him.
In a recent online chat with Neha Dhupia for her podcast, No Filter Neha, Saif revealed that turning 50 was petrifying for him. However, the actor is grateful to inherit his mother, Sharmila Tagore’s genes. He has shared, “So, I’m just relieved my mother looks young and looked young and I feel I have inherited her genes, so I might be able to fool people into looking 50 when I’m 60.”
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, the Jawaani Jaaneman actor had revealed his mother, Sharmila Tagore’s reply, when he had asked her to take care of herself during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The actor had revealed, “I do worry about my mother but she is suddenly sounding extremely wise, saying she has had a full life and has no regrets. It's scary listening to such stuff.” Indeed it’s an extremely worrying statement for any child to hear from their mother. Saif also revealed how he’s managing to get in touch with his sister, Soha Ali Khan. He had added, “She believes we knew about this happening well in advance and kept the news from her. I'm also not getting to see my other sister Soha these days but we call each other, often. On December 8, 2019, the Bengali beauty of Hindi cinema, Sharmila Tagore had turned 75 and to mark the occasion, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu along with their little prince and princess, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, had headed off to Ranthambore, Rajasthan. Sharing a family picture from the cake-cutting moment, where baby Tim and Inni had their eyes only on the cake, Soha had written, “With so many people in one frame it’s impossible to get a shot where everyone’s eyes are open (sorry bhai) or where everyone is looking at the camera - Tim and Inni have eyes only for the cake! Happy Birthday Amman 08.12.19 #sherbagh.”
In a media interaction, Saif had talked about his mother’s liberal thoughts and had stated, “Both my parents have been very strong characters, particularly her. She is so driven by a lot of issues she is passionate about and what has always amazed me is her liberal mind. It's a forward-thinking mind.
