Kareena Kapoor Khan is an exceptional actress and a supermom too. In a recent interview, her hubby, Saif Ali Khan revealed how Kareena broke the stereotype around gender roles.
We live in a world where people live with a lot of preconceived notions about everything. Whether it is getting married after being settled in respective careers or taking time to plan a child, it is always about what people say. We live in a society where restrictions and assumptions take a front seat and many a time, people live in a certain way just to please the society. The times are changing, whether it is about gender roles, pay parity or equal rights, women are breaking the stereotypes and coming out in open to speak what they think is right and not what the society says. And Bollywood’s diva, Kareena Kapoor Khan is the one actress, who has broken the stereotype around gender roles. Royalty is the word that crosses our mind whenever the name of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan appears. They have been giving couple goals to the millennials with their perfect on-screen and off-screen chemistry. The duo had fallen in love on the sets of Tashan and after dating each other for five years, Saif and Kareena had tied the knot on October 16, 2012. On December 20, 2016, the adorable couple had welcomed their little bundle of joy, Taimur Ali Khan. From spending time with her little munchkin despite her busy schedule, Kareena is acing her professional as well as personal life.
In an interview with Kareena Kapoor on her radio show, What Women Want, Saif Ali Khan opened up about gender roles and said how he and Kareena once discussed the impact marriage would have on an actress’s career. He further said, “I used to give you my mother’s example of how it didn’t, and you said times have changed, but maybe they haven’t changed.” Saif also praised his wife and said that Kareena was right that times have changed and has proved him wrong by balancing her professional and personal life beautifully and that she has set an example for a lot of people.
In an interview with the Filmfare magazine, Kareena had shared how she strikes the balance between her work and her family. She had stated, "I was working through my pregnancy. Then five and a half months after my delivery, I began working on Veere Di Wedding. I took Taimur to Delhi for the shoot. I’m lucky to have an understanding husband who said, ‘I appreciate the fact that you want to continue your dream’. That’s the most important thing in a marriage." She had further added, "I had support from my family. I had a lot of help. I had support from my sister (Karisma Kapoor) and of course most importantly, Saif. He comes from a family where his mother was working, his sister is working. It was easy for him to understand that I would take Taimur with me if I had to for a shoot. Absolutely 100 marks to Anil Kapoor and Rhea for being such fantastic producers. Taimur was so well looked after. I’ll always consider them as family. I couldn’t have asked for a better film to do after Taimur. And Taimur, of course, settled so beautifully in Delhi while I shot. He’s a happy trooper. Touchwood!"
From going on play dates and birthday parties with Taimur to doing a video chat with him in between her shoots, Kareena Kapoor makes sure that her family time is not compromised for the sake of her work. Sometime back, Kareena had graced The Love Laugh Live Show, where she had talked about her son, Taimur and the sweetest thing he says when she leaves for work, she had said, "He says the sweetest thing every day when I have to go to work. 'Amma, don't go.' It just breaks your heart. Sometimes, I just have to slip out without saying bye to him." Aww, this statement of Taimur has surely melted our hearts.
