Saif Ali Khan once talked about the huge alimony he gave to his ex-wife, Amrita Singh and being left with no money after their divorce.
Saif Ali Khan is hailed as a versatile actor of Bollywood who made his audience spellbound by experimenting with his roles. Son of veteran actor, Sharmila Tagore and Indian cricketer, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Saif made his Bollywood debut in 1993 with the film, Parampara. After a series of flops, the handsome actor featured in Farhan Akhtar's directorial venture, Dil Chahta Hai, which got him a lot of recognition.

Talking about the Nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan’s personal life, he was previously married to actress, Amrita Singh in 1991. The couple embraced parenthood with the arrival of their kids, Sara Ali Khan (1995) and Ibrahim Ali Khan (2001). After 13 years of marital bliss, in 2004, Saif and Amrita decided to part ways. In 2012, Saif married actress Kareena Kapoor, and the duo is doting parents to two kids, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan.
Though Saif Ali Khan parted ways with his first wife, Amrita, their divorce was not amicable. The actor was reportedly not allowed to meet his children Sara and Ibrahim. The divorce from Amrita disturbed Saif, and he also paid huge alimony to his ex-wife, Amrita Singh. In a 2005 interview with the Telegraph, Saif had revealed the alimony he had paid to his ex-wife, Amrita Singh and said:
“I'm supposed to give Amrita Rs 5 crore, of which I've already given her approximately Rs 2.5 crore. Also, I'm paying Rs 1 lakh per month until my son becomes 18. I'm not Shah Rukh Khan. I don't have that kind of money. I've promised her I'll pay up the rest of the money, and I will, even if I've to slog till I drop dead."
In the same interview, Saif also spoke about being penniless after his divorce from Amrita, as he had given everything to her and their children. Despite going through financial constraints, Saif said that Amrita will always remain an integral part of his life. In his words:
“Whatever I've earned from doing ads, stage shows and films are being given for my children. I've no money. Our bungalow is for Amrita and the kids, and never mind the relatives who've joined her after my departure. I want no confrontation with Amrita. She was, and will remain, an integral part of my life. I want her and my kids to be happy."
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh met on the sets of Rahul Rawail’s film, Bekhudi. Saif was so smitten by Amrita that he decided to ask her out for dinner after a couple of days. On their first dinner date, Saif had a good time with Amrita, and he got to know her better.
Saif and Amrita had not only talked about their personal and professional lives, but the night ended with a kiss. It was the beginning of their beautiful love story, and in 1991, Saif and Amrita had tied the knot. 13 years and two kids later, Saif and Amrita had mutually decided to end their marriage and were granted the divorce in 2004. He is currently married to actress, Kareena Kapoor.
