It was in 2012, when Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan had exchanged the wedding vows and became each other's forever. Four years later, in 2016, the madly-in-love couple had become the doting parents to their baby boy, Taimur Ali Khan and the little one had become not only theirs but the nation's source of happiness. With almost four months into the lockdown, while many of us are getting restless, looks like the Pataudis have decided to focus on nothing but the silver lining of the scenario.
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Saif Ali Khan spoke about how he is so stoic during the present scenario, how he will remember 2020 by, on being trolled and the new house they are planning to move in. Since the unlock phase has begun, Saif is often spotted by the paparazzi coming in and out of his apartment. Saif revealed that they are planning to shift into a slightly larger apartment, which is located opposite to where they're currently staying and will put this house on rent.
Revealing the details on why he is being snapped often outside his apartment and the family time he is enjoying during the lockdown, Saif Ali Khan said, "Our new home is being renovated, which is why I hop across to see how things are coming along and not because I feel cooped in. I’m enjoying this time with my family. My sister Soha and her husband Kunal (Kemmu) come over sometimes, as do my kids Sara and Ibrahim. My other sister, Saba, too, has moved to Mumbai. Only, mother (Sharmila Tagore) is in a rented apartment in Delhi because the lockdown happened while she was doing up her place. So now, even she is overseeing the renovation work there. She is a real trooper and never complains." (Also Read: Kareena Kapoor Khan And Karisma Kapoor Are Foodies Like Kapoor Clan, Their Childhood Picture Proves)
It was only a few days back when Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu had visited Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's residence. Saif's kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan had also visited their dad over the weekend. And next day, Sara had informed that her driver had tested positive with the virus. Sharing that it is his major concern, Saif said, "It is. Anyone can get infected, so the stigma that has come to be attached to it doesn’t make sense. Medical costs are astronomical, so it’s important to stay home and safe."
Father of three, Saif Ali Khan is enjoying the lockdown phase with his three-and-a-half-year-old son, Taimur Ali Khan and when asked how he will remember 2020, the 49-year-old actor retorted, "In most families today, both parents go out to work, so it’s okay for children to be a little independent. It’s important to make time for them, but too much time is also not normal. Children adjust quickly; Taimur may not understand what a pandemic is, but he knows you have to wear a mask when you go out. When I look back at 2020, I will remember it as a solid year that we got to spend with our three-year-old son."
It was in June 2020, when the lockdown was lifted with restrictions by the government of India, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan had taken their little munchkin, Taimur Ali Khan for an evening stroll to the Marine Drive. But the family of three was trolled for not wearing masks and were also asked by the police to not bring children outside. Reacting to the trolls, Saif said, "That was the only time we went out and took Tim along because he’d been locked in for around three months. We had our masks on, but the promenade looked so deserted, so we took them off. But as soon as we saw that there were people around and were told children were not allowed out, we put on our masks and drove away. That was not reported, but it’s a fact that we have been responsible, law-abiding citizens and stayed home all through the lockdown and even now, only interact with a few family members."
On being surprisingly stoic during the lockdown, Saif Ali Khan remarked, “I did get a little edgy in the middle, but then, decided to focus on the things we can do, like reading, learning the guitar, cooking and planning for the future." Saif revealed that he has been struggling with the voluminous War and Peace while reading the Ramayana aloud to his son, Taimur Ali Khan. And most of the evenings in the week, he dishes out appetising dinners like Asian fish, roast chicken and Chinese which he makes from the recipes picked out by his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. Saif proudly continued, "It’s ironical that when I was playing a chef on screen, I didn’t cook much. Now, I enjoy it and everyone enjoys my meals."
