As October 11, 2022, mark the wedding anniversary of Saira Banu and her late husband, Dilip Kumar, the evergreen actress opened up about her feelings in an interview with ETimes. She revealed that she does not go out and meet people. However, talking about her older days, she also mentioned that Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan used to send them flowers and shared:
"I still don't go out. I don't meet people. Himmat nahin hoti, mann nahi karta. But my man is a man forever. He is definitely very much around. It's just that I can't see him. Our house used to be full of flowers. And you know, Amitabh Bachchan used to send us a lot of lovely flowers. There was also an exchange of letters from Dilip saab and Amitabh. I have preserved those letters very carefully. I treasure those letters."
In the same interview, Saira revealed that her husband, Dilip wasn't running behind name and fame. Moreover, he used to work for social causes. For this reason, Saira wants to build a museum for him, and there have been enquiries from Madame Tussauds for the same. She added:
“Many things about Dilip saab are not known. That's because my husband never liked the spotlight to be on him. He didn't want any road to be named after him. He didn't want any statue of his made. What he liked was to be in the forefront of social causes, whether it meant that he had to travel in trucks in those donation drives. Once he went abroad too to lead a cause when Sunil Dutt could not travel due to some reason, but he made it clear to the organisers that he didn't want the proceedings/event to bear his name. I feel I should build a museum about him, which would outline the professional and personal aspects of his life. So, there have been inquiries from Madame Tussauds whether they can install a statue of Dilip saab.”
