A couple, who had lived together for 54 years and had survived the test of time, are sure to find living apart from each other difficult. And actress, Saira Banu is going through the same phase now as the veteran actor and the love of her life, Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7, 2021.
One of the most celebrated couples in B-town, Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar remained devoted to each other till his last day. If anyone had stuck by thespian through his thick and thin, then that has to be his ladylove and wife, Saira Banu, especially in the last ten years as Dilip Sahab's health was deteriorating. Despite all her attempts to spend few more days with Dilip Kumar, the veteran actor bid adieu to the world and left for the heavenly abode.

A few hours ago, as Dilip Kumar's pulmonologist, Dr Jalil Parkar announced the veteran's demise, Saira Banu told the doctor that there is no reason left behind her existence now. She said, "God snatched away my reason for living. Without Sahab, I won't be able to think about anything. Everyone, please pray."
The veteran actor was admitted to the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai on June 30, 2021, after he had complained of breathlessness. His pulmonologist, Dr Jalil Parkar told PTI that, "He passed away due to prolonged illness at 7:30 am. Dilip Kumar will be buried at Mumbai's Juhu Kabristan in Santacruz, in the evening."

His doctor shared the details of his recurring illness and said that the veteran actor was suffering from advanced prostate cancer that had affected other organs of his body. A report of the Indian Express quoted the doctor saying, "He had water in the pleural cavity, and he suffered kidney failure. He required blood transfusion multiple times. We carried out the last transfusion but it did not help."
In an interview with ETimes, when Saira Banu was asked about her endless dedication to look after Dilip Kumar, despite having a staff, she told the entertainment portal that she was looking after him not to get praises but out of sheer love. She added, "Just to touch him and cuddle him is the world's best thing that's happening to me. I adore him and he is my breath itself."
