Salman Khan's ex-girlfriend, Somy Ali, supported Zeenat Aman's stance on live-in relationships. She mentioned that such relationships can lower divorce rates.
Veteran actress, Zeenat Aman shared her views on live-in relationships a while back. In her long post, she said that a couple should live together before they move on to the next phase and revealed that she had advised the same to her sons as well. While Zeenat’s thoughts did not go down well with many of her contemporaries, others came out in support of her stance on live-in relationships. Recently, Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend, Somy Ali, was one such celebrity who joined the bandwagon in supporting the veteran actress’ thoughts.
Somy Ali, who used to be a popular actress in the Hindi film industry in the ‘90s, has never hesitated in calling a spade a spade. Recently, during an interview with the Hindustan Times, the former actress shared her thoughts on live-in relationships and revealed that she used to be neighbours with Zeenat Aman and her ex-husband, the late Mazhar Khan, when she used to live in Vindhyachal at Mount Mary. Somy added that while many have condemned Zeenat's take on live-in relationships, she supports her stance. She said:
“I am not at all against live-in relationships. Whatever Zeenat Ji has said, I 100% support her in this. Because when you are in a live-in relationship with someone, you can set boundaries. No means no. You get to know about each other. We all have our idiosyncrasies. There can be habits that you like or dislike in an individual. So, you can learn a lot about personal likes and dislikes in a live-in relationship. It helps in bringing down divorce rates.”

Somy further emphasised that Zeenat Aman is an intellectual, who is well-read and articulate, and also highlighted that divorce rates have gone up in India, Pakistan and all around the globe for that matter. She further added that we live in 2024 and not in the 1950s, and the world has changed a lot, and that men and women can be in a live-in relationship. Somy Ali also talked about arranged marriages in India and Pakistan, where people marry even without knowing each other, which sometimes leads to divorce.
The former actress shared that Zeenat Aman’s point of view about a live-in relationship can help bring down divorce rates. Somy Ali also mentioned that living together would help the couples figure out their compatibility. Further sharing that Zeenat Aman’s stance is a favour to everyone, Somy said:
“One last thing I would like to say about Zeenat Ji. What she has suggested can help in bringing down the divorce rate. If you are in a live-in, then you will be able to figure out if you have compatibility with your partner. Zeenat Ji has done a huge favour to us by expressing her views on live-in relationships.”
