Days after the WhatsApp message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police demanding Rs. 5 crore to end the Salman Khan-Lawrence Bishnoi enmity, the sender apologises.
Bollywood actor, Salman Khan has been under continuous threat following the unfortunate demise of his close friend, Baba Siddique. Within a week after the former minister was shot dead in Bandra, the Mumbai Traffic Police had received a WhatsApp message on October 18, demanding Rs. 5 crore from Salman Khan. Now, the Mumbai Traffic Police received another message from the same number, but this time, it was an apology.
Salman Khan’s security was strengthened immediately following the murder of Baba Siddique, given his close friendship with the former MLA and his history with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Salman’s security was further tightened following the threatening WhatsApp message that said:
“Don't take this lightly. If Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he must pay 5 crore. If the money is not given, his condition will be worse than Baba Siddique’s.”
Salman Khan’s farmhouse in Panvel, as well as his Bandra residence, were further secured after this message. Salman Khan also ordered a Rs. 2 crore bulletproof SUV to reinforce his safety. The actor was provided Y+ security in response to this threat.
Days after the threatening message made rounds, the Mumbai Traffic Police received a follow-up message from the same number. Only this time, the sender sent an apology for the message sent earlier. The sender claimed that the last message was sent unintentionally and that he had made a mistake. The man behind these messages is still a mystery, but police officials have traced the original message to Jharkhand. Mumbai Police has already sent a team for further investigation.
Former MLA, Baba Siddique was shot dead on October 12 outside his son’s office in Bandra East. One of the three shooters eloped and the other two were arrested soon after this incident. A day after the murder, someone claimed responsibility for the incident under the social media handle, Shubuu Lonkar. Claiming to be associated with the Bishnoi gang, Lonkar said that Baba Siddique was killed due to his closeness to Salman Khan and connection with Dawood Ibrahim. By killing Siddique, Lonkar also claimed to have avenged the death of Anuj Thapan, one of the two gunmen arrested for shooting outside Salman’s residence.
Salman Khan’s conflict with the Bishnoi gang dates back to 1998 when he was alleged to have hunted and killed two blackbucks. The Bishnoi community considers blackbucks a sacred species. Following this incident, Lawrence Bishnoi vowed to seek revenge on the actor, though the case still remains in court.
Despite the ongoing threat, Salman Khan remained dedicated to his responsibility. By increasing his security outside his home, the actor resumed his shoot for the ongoing television show, Bigg Boss 18. During his visits to the Bigg Boss set, the area is being monitored by more than 60 guards with strict access control to the premises.
