Samantha Ruth Prabhu On Facing Health Crisis While Filming 'Citadel', She Suffered A Head Concussion

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is soon going to make her comeback post sabbatical due to Myositis with the film, 'Citadel' revealed facing major health scares while filming it.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is counted among the most bankable pan-Indian actresses in the Indian film diaspora. The actress, who has been the undisputed queen of Tollywood, made her debut in Hindi language films with her stint in The Family Man 2. For the unversed, in 2022, the diva faced a major health scare when she got diagnosed with the auto-immune condition called Myositis. Moreover, she decided to take a sabbatical the same year, in order to give herself time to recuperate and recover. Fast forward to now, Samantha is all set to jump back to work with her upcoming film, Citadel: Honey Bunny, opposite Varun Dhawan.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu discusses facing strenuous health breakouts while filming Citadel

Recently, during her podcast show, Take 20, Samantha Ruth Prabhu made some candid revelations from the shooting diaries of her upcoming film, Citadel: Honey Bunny. For the unversed, the film is an adaptation of a Hollywood film by the same name, which featured Priyanka Chopra Jonas as its lead. Coming back to Samantha, she discussed facing strenuous health problems during the shooting of such a heavily-action-based film. Moreover, while speaking to her health coach, Alkesh Sharotri, the diva remarked on the countless calls she made to him after facing a health crisis while filming. In her words:

“I had to finish Kushi and I had to shoot for Citadel, which is extremely physical. There’s a lot of action involved. So, it was very strenuous. Many many calls were made to you in the middle of the shoot, Alkesh what to do? She’s having a spasm, she’s cramping.”

Samantha’s health coach reveals the diva blacked out after a major head concussion during Citadel’s shoot

In the next segment of the podcast, Samantha’s health coach and guest, Alkesh Sharotri opened up about his side of the story, concerning the diva’s health scares during the shooting of Citadel. He narrated an incident wherein he got an urgent call stating that the actress hit her head and blacked out, as a result of a major head concussion. Narrating the gripping details, he elaborated:

“I remember this one particular incident where you had to give, like, an action sequence. And you had a head concussion. And the person who was training you there, he was not very helpful in relaying the information. Oh God, those were crazy times.”

Samantha talked about resuming work post-separation from Naga Chaitanya

In her personal life, Samantha was previously married to actor, Naga Chaitanya. However, due to reasons best known to them, the couple parted ways in 2021. In one of the earlier episodes of her podcast, the diva went candid about expressing her feelings, when she resumed her work after separating from ex-husband, Naga Chaitanya. She remarked feeling a sense of calm after a long time, and was finally able to resume chores of her normal life.

Samantha talked about finding strength amidst back-to-back failures in personal life

Earlier, while speaking with Harper’s Bazaar, Samantha Ruth Prabhu opened up about how she managed to find strength, after she faced back-to-back failures in her personal life. She revealed that after her failed marriage, her health deteriorated soon enough, and it led to an inevitable impact on her work. In her words:

"When I hit an all-time low of, well, a failed marriage, and my health and work were getting affected, it was like a triple whammy; boom, boom, boom. You know, people go down for far less than what I endured for the last two years or so. During that time, I read about actors who have gone through health issues and made a comeback, or suffered trolling or anxiety. And reading their stories helped me. It gave me strength to know that if they did it, I can, too."
