Tollywood actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu's life has been going through one of the major blows as she ended her marital life with her actor-husband, Naga Chaitanya. The announcement of their decision to part ways had come as the biggest shock to their friends in Tollywood and ChaySam's fanbase. When Samantha had dropped 'Akkineni' from her name on her social media handles, rumour mills were abuzz that things were not fine between her and Chaitanya.
For the unversed, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya's friendship had started on the sets of their film, Yeh Maaya Chesave in 2009. After reconnecting again in 2014 for the shooting of Autonagar, the duo had realised that love had started blooming between them. In 2017, Chaitanya and Samantha had a dreamy destination wedding in Goa and pictures and videos from the extravagant affair had gone viral over the internet.

On October 8, 2021, Samatha Ruth Prabhu took to her IG stories to share a cryptic post after announcing her separation from Naga Chaitanya. Her post questioned the double standards of the society for judging a woman on moral grounds, whereas not batting an eye to the morality of a man. Samantha posted a quote by Farida D that can be read as ''If matters are constantly morally questionable when done by women, but not even morally questioned when done by men- then we as a society, fundamental have no Morals." Atop her story, The Family Man 2 actress wrote, ''Good Morning.''
On October 7, 2021, Samantha's hairstylist, Preetam Jukalker had dropped a slight hint behind the reason for her split with Naga Chaitanya. However, he had deleted the post later on and it did not mention anyone's name. He had written, ''They are the ones who hide the true nature of men in their homes. They are responsible for the violence against women. The violence these days is a form of psychological harassment and criticism."

Earlier, a report by Pinkvilla had stated that Naga Chaitanya was living in a hotel in Hyderabad after his split with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, while Samantha continued to stay at their home. The portal had quoted a source as saying, ''Naga Chaitanya has been living alone in a posh hotel in Hyderabad since a month after he and Samantha decided mutually to divorce.''
The source had also revealed the reason due to which Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya had remained tight-lipped about their divorce. The aide had explained, ''Chay and Sam both waited for Love Story to release in theatres so that they can announce their separation."
