Veteran actor, Sameer Khakhar breathed his last on March 15, 2023, after suffering from multiple organ failure.
Film and television actor, Sameer Khakhar, popular for portraying the character of 'Khopdi' in the TV series, Nukkad, breathed his last on March 15, 2023. The 71-year-old actor was suffering from respiratory issues and was admitted to MM Hospital in Borivali after he complained of feeling uneasiness. However, he passed away due to multiple organ failure.
In an interview with the ETimes, Sameer Khakhar’s cousin, Ganesh Khakhar talked about the actor’s death and stated:
“He was suffering from respiratory issues, then he went to sleep and went unconscious. We called the doctor and he suggested that we admit him in the hospital. His heart was not working properly and had urinatory issues too. He was kept on ventilator, gradually he collapsed at 4:30am this morning."

Sameer was quite active in films and television. One of his notable roles was in the dialogue-free film, Pushpaka Vimana in 1987, in which he played an alcoholic businessman, who gets kidnapped by the hero, Kamal Haasan. He started his television debut with the 1986 serial, Nukkad, in which his character, 'Khopdi' was loved by the audience.
In his 38-year-long acting career, Sameer was a part of many TV shows and films. However, he took a break and settled in the USA. After returning from the US, Sameer did two Gujarati plays and also played a pivotal role in Salman Khan’s film, Jai Ho. In an interview with a media portal, Sameer also showed his willingness to return to showbiz.

The actor stated that he was in search of work. Revealing how he will work till his last breath, Sameer stated:
“Everybody is looking for work and so am I. And by looking for work I mean approaching and applying for a job. In the case of actors, it is a daily exercise with every film or show. But I am a bad salesman. I am hopeful people who know me will offer me work. I would like to work till my last breath. I want to entertain people all my life, I am not tired yet.”
