Sameer Wankhede was involved in the arrest of Aryan Khan back in 2021 and sat down for an interview to discuss several facets of the case.
Shah Rukh Khan's son, Aryan Khan, was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) along with six others in connection with an alleged drugs racket in 2021. The news spread like wildfire, making headlines and everyone speculating whether the Badshah's son had something to do with the case. The Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau at that time, Sameer Wankhede, was overlooking the incident.
Sameer Wankhede sat for an interview with Zoom Entertainment and shared how he dealt with troll armies during the controversy that ensued. He also reacted to the allegations that Aryan Khan didn't possess any drugs on him at the time of his arrest. Sameer was heavily trolled online following Aryan's arrest. During the interview, he was asked if the trolls took a toll on him and his family. The ADDL Commissioner responded to the interviewer and shared that many praised him for 'holding the land of the law equal for all'. He was quoted saying:
"Trolling is entertainment for me. I have faced much worse: bullets and terrorists. These are very small things. Threatening messages are quite funny."
In the same conversation, Sameer Wankhede was also asked about Shah Rukh Khan's effort to avoid the media after Aryan Khan's arrest and bail. For the unversed, it was speculated that the actor was upset about how the arrest was covered in the news. Sameer was asked about his opinion on Shah Rukh Khan's actions, and he stated that he doesn't follow the actor and has no idea what he has been up to.
During the conversation, Sameer Wankhede made a comment which is being speculated to be about Aryan Khan. He made a comment which suggested that Aryan was drunk at a New Year Party. For the uninitiated, a video of Aryan and his friends was circulated widely online after New Year. Sameer took an indirect dig at the video and stated:
"I would not like to comment on this person, but if you talk about the 31st, youngsters today think New Year’s Eve is meant to get sloshed. No doubt, people should enjoy, but don’t harm your body."
Sameer Wankhede was also asked to comment on Shah Rukh Khan's decision to quit smoking. It was King Khan's birthday when he shared that he had quit smoking. When asked if the drug case had perhaps prompted him to make this decision, a disinterested Sameer bluntly ignored the question and said:
"I would not want to comment on 'XYZ person.'"
