At the age of 44, 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' fame, Samir Sharma reportedly had taken a drastic step in his life and committed suicide at his Mumbai residence.
The issue of mental health and emphasis on the seriousness of suicide has seen a different light in the lockdown since there's been an increase in the cases. After Manmeet Grewal, Sejal Sharma, Preksha Mehta, Sushant Singh Rajput amongst others, the industry has lost another gem. Known for his roles as Nitin in Dil Kya Chahta Hai and Krishna Agarwal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Samir Sharma was last seen as Shaurya Maheshwari in the show, Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke. Samir hails from Delhi and had shifted to Bangalore to work for an advertising agency, for an IT company and for Radio City. He had made his Bollywood debut as a supporting role in Hasee To Phasee. At the age of 44, Samir reportedly took a drastic step in his life and committed suicide at his Mumbai residence.
In a Mid-Day report, senior inspector, George Fernandez, Malad police station, informed, "A case of accidental death has been registered and the body has been sent for autopsy." Revealing the news, ANI has tweeted, "TV actor & model Samir Sharma was found hanging from his kitchen ceiling at his residence in Malad West last night. Accidental Death Report registered, body sent for autopsy. Looking at body's condition, it's suspected that he died by suicide two days back: Malad Police. #Mumbai."
As per the reports, the body of Samir Sharma was found by the night watchman of his apartment and he had alerted the society residents. Based on the condition, the reports state that the police suspects Samir had died two days ago. In a 2005 interview with Riya V Anandwala, throwing light on his educational and job phase in Bangalore, Samir Sharma had said, "After finishing my education in Delhi, I shifted to Bangalore. Before being captured on the small screen, I worked for an advertising agency, then an IT company and last was working for Radio City in Bangalore. Marketing was the common factor in all three." Revealing he had wanted to be an actor, Samir had said, "Well, I had given acting a thought while I was in college. I did theatre in Bangalore and that followed with many shows. Theatre continued for two to three years. My best friend is the writer of Dil Kya Chahta Hai, so I auditioned for it and bagged the role. I was really happy with a kind of break I got."
Sharing his personal take on acting, Samir Sharma had stated, "I love doing real characters. Even when I was doing theatre, I was always told that a 'guy next door' type of a character is my strength. And when I got Nitin's role, I always thought that comedy was my weakness. Initially I really had to work hard on my character, but then it followed." Revealing that he was looking forward to explore the thriller genre, Samir had said, "Well, as I have already experienced two genres, I would love to do a thriller show."
