Sania Mirza was asked about how motherhood has changed her life as an athlete. Sania had embraced motherhood for the first time when she delivered her son, Izhaan Mirza Malik in 2018.
‘Why aren’t my older clothes fitting me now?’, ‘Why am I not in shape?’, are some of the questions that women often tend to ask themselves after giving birth to their child. But even though a mommy puts on the post-pregnancy weight, she cherishes the phase to the fullest with her newborn baby. But if we talk about the celebrity moms, since they are under the constant media scrutiny, she is expected to get back into shape in no time or else she is been body-shamed for the same. Celeb moms are expected to lose weight and get back to ‘normal’ in no time. (Also Read: Peshawar Zalmi Ask To Describe Shoaib Malik In One Word, His Wife, Sania Mirza Gave The Best Answer)
From Kareena Kapoor Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mira Rajput Kapoor, Esha Deol Takhtani, Kajol, Shilpa Shetty Kundra to Genelia Deshmukh, mostly B-town mommies have shared their experience of shedding the extra post-pregnancy kilos and getting back into shape while dealing with the body-shaming. Nation’s ace tennis player, Sania Mirza too, had time and again shared her #MummaHustles stories on Instagram, which included her workout diaries.
During the live session with Pinkvilla, Sania Mirza was asked about how motherhood has changed her life as an athlete. To this, Sania retorted, "I think that being athletes we are so used to conditioned to think about ourselves, about our routine, us winning, our warm-up, our food and our recovery, that you almost become a borderline selfish and I think that motherhood just kind of snaps you out of that." Speaking of her comeback after delivering her baby boy, Izhaan Mirza Malik, Sania remarked, "It was extremely difficult. I mean I put on a lot of weight. I had put on 23kgs which is fine because I had the best time in nine months of eating everything. And for an athlete to put on that amount of weight and say that I want to make a comeback takes a humongous effort."
Revealing how she was stubborn to lose 26 kgs in four months, Sania Mirza stated, "Your body goes through a lot of things during pregnancy. It took me four months to lose 26kgs. It is not only about losing weight. I had to be fit and I am so stubborn as a person that I knew I was going to do it one way or the other."
