Sanjay Dutt Leaves For His Treatment, Wife, Maanayata Dutt Issues A Statement Thanking His Fans

Sanjay Dutt left for his cancer treatment with his wife, Maanayata Dutt. The doting wife released an official statement updating about the actor’s health.

Cancer is one of the most dreaded diseases and whenever we hear about the disease, we only hope that no one has to go through the painful process of it. The year 2020 will always be remembered for its unlikely events and a sense of fear it created in people’s minds. Adding to the worst news of 2020, the reports of Sanjay Dutt being diagnosed with Lung cancer has only made his fans heartbroken. Sanjay Dutt’s family has a history of cancer. His mother, veteran actress, Nargis Dutt had succumbed to pancreatic cancer in 1981 and later his first wife, Richa Sharma too had passed away due to brain tumour. On August 12, 2020, Sanjay had announced a break from work for some medical treatment and soon speculations started around his health. Later, film critic, Komal Nath had revealed that Sanjay was diagnosed with lung cancer. Sanjay’s family, who has always been his support system is standing like a pillar of strength for him in this testing time.

On August 18, 2020, Sanjay Dutt was spotted outside his home as he left for Kokilaben hospital for his cancer treatment. Sanjay was accompanied by his wife, Maanayata, who recently came back from Dubai, where she was stuck with their kids, Shahraan and Iqra due to lockdown. And as the couple was leaving for the hospital, the actor waved at the paparazzi standing outside his house and asked them, ‘pray for me’ (prarthana karo). Meanwhile, Maanayata has released an official statement updating about Sanju’s health.

Excerpts from her statement can be read as “To all of Sanju’s fans and well-wishers, I can’t begin to thank you for the love and warmth you have shown him all these years. Sanju has been through many ups and downs in his life, but what has kept him going through every tough phase has always been your adulation and support. And for this, we will always be grateful. She also talked about Sanju’s preliminary treatment and requested everyone not to speculate the stage of his illness, “For those asking, Sanju will complete his preliminary treatment in Mumbai. We will formulate further plans of travel depending on how and when the covid situation eases. As of now, Sanju is in the best hands of our esteemed doctors at Kokilaben hospital. I request everyone, with my folded hands, to stop speculating the stage of his illness and let the doctors continue to do their work. We will update you all regularly with his progress.”

On August 8, 2020, Sanjay Dutt was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, after he had complained of breathlessness. The actor had taken to his Twitter handle and had tweeted about his health, "Just wanted to assure everyone that I'm doing well. I'm currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two." The actor was immediately tested for COVID-19 but the results were negative and he was discharged from the hospital on August 10, 2020. Later, it was also reported that Sanjay had developed fluid in his chest.
