In a recent interaction, Sanjay Dutt revealed how he made the most of his time during his confinement days in Pune's Yerwada Jail.
Sanjay Dutt is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. The legendary actor never fails to leave his fans in awe of him with his jaw-dropping acting mettle. Talking about his professional front, he will be next seen in the Tamil movie, Leo. However, in a recent interaction, Sanjay Dutt walked down the memory lane and revealed how he spent his time during his five years of jail sentence. For the unversed, Sanjay was taken under Pune’s Yerwada Jail custody and was sentenced to a five-year imprisonment under the TADA act for his possession of arms that were part of the consignment used in the 1993 blasts.
Recently, Sanjay Dutt graced the show, Star vs Food Survival, hosted by chef Ranveer Brar. During his interaction with the host, Sanjay revealed how he spent his leisure time in Pune’s Yerwada Jail. Sanjay shared that big stars, including Anna, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Shah Rukh Khan came to wish him well the first time he went to jail. The actor also said that he didn't overthink it cause he had accepted that he had to go for it; thus, he managed himself accordingly. Sanjay further mentioned that he learned to cook, read scriptures, and even started working out during his jail stay. Elaborating more on the same, Sanjay stated:
"The first time I went to jail if you see the photographs outside Thane jail – Anna, Akshay, Ajay, Shah Rukh, everybody came and wished me well. I had no respite from serving jail time, so why overthink it? I had to make up my mind that yes I had to go. I have to face it. In six years, I faced it, managed it, made the most out of it, and learned from it. I used that time to learn cooking, scriptures, and working out. I came out with a better physique."

Earlier, during an interview with IANS, Sanjay Dutt opened up about his confinement days. The actor said that although his jail stay was actually a roller coaster ride, on the positive side, it turned him into a better person. Further in the interview, Sanju baba shared that staying away from family was a challenge for him.
He also added that during those days, he learned how to keep his body in perfect shape, and he used trash cans and mud pots in place of weights and dumbbells for his workouts. In the same interview, Sanju said that all of the jail members used to have a cultural function every six months wherein the actor taught the convicts how to perform mouth dialogues, sing, dance, and express themselves through skits.

During his appearance as a special guest at the show, Entertainment Ki Raat Season 2, Sanjay Dutt shared some unheard anecdotes from his confinement days. The actor revealed that he used to make bags out of newspapers, and for the same, he earned money. When asked about how much money he earned, Sanjay revealed that he earned Rs. 500 for the same, and after his release from jail, he gave the money to his wife, Maanayata. The actor could be quoted as saying:
"I gave it all to my wife. Because this earning I can’t get anywhere else. Those 500 rupees for me are worth Rs. 5000 crore."
