On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Sanjay Dutt shared an unmissable picture with his sisters, Priya and Namrata Dutt and penned a heart-warming note for them.
Sanjay Dutt is one of the most-loved actors in the Hindi film industry. He has been credited for being a part of some of the iconic films to date, including Munnabhai M.B.B.S, Khal Nayak, Vastav: The Reality, Sadak, Rocky, Agneepath among so many others. Apart from his flourishing professional career, Sanjay is known to be quite the dedicated family man. Sanjay has interestingly been always surrounded by a ladies-oriented family, that included his mother, Nargis, his wife, Maanyata Dutt and most importantly his sisters, Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt.
Taking to his IG handle on August 30, 2023, Sanjay Dutt dropped an unmissable frame of him, along with his two darling sisters, Priya and Namrata. In the picture, Sanjay, clad in a white kurta can be seen hugging both of his sisters, who looked pretty in traditional attires. The throwback picture, which surely melted our hearts, was accompanied by a heartmelting, where the dashing actor credited his sisters for always having his back. Calling them his pillars of strength, Sanjay wrote:
“My dearest Priya and Anju, on this Raksha Bandhan, I want to remind you both of the deep love and respect I hold for you. Just as you've been my pillars of strength, I promise to always stand by you, protecting and cherishing our bond. May our connection remain as pure and unbreakable as a sister's love. Wishing you a joyful and blessed Raksha Bandhan!”

After getting accused in the infamous TADA case against the Mumbai blasts in 1993, Sanjay Dutt served his full sentence at the Yerwada Jail. However, while his family was totally broken by such an unfortunate turn of events, they never gave up on him. Proof of the same was found in his sisters, Priya and Namrata’s special gestures back in the time when Sanjay served his jail sentence. Recorded in their book, Mr. and Mrs. Dutt: Memories of Our Parents, the duo mentioned how they celebrated Raksha Bandhan with their brother while he was imprisoned. Recalling the special moment between the sisters and their brother in August 1994, the sisters recalled in the memoir:
“We tied a rakhi on his wrist. Sanjay looked and said, I have nothing to give to both of you. This is all I have (two rupee jail coupon). "It was an extraordinary emotional moment for us. Dad broke down. We held each other in a long embrace and wept, unburdening our hearts, before Sanjay was led back to his cell."
Sanjay Dutt’s sister, Priya had made an interesting revelation about the actor in his biography, Sanjay Dutt: The Crazy Untold Story of Bollywood’s Bad Boy. She recalled a peculiar episode, wherein their mother, Nargis once thought that her son, Sanjay was gay. She was apparently worried that since the actor closed the door to his room whenever his friends visited him, it might be possible that he was gay.

While he may appear to be the macho, handsome man on the silver screen, Sanjay had essentially been a mumma’s boy all his life. Therefore, after his mother, Nargis’ demise, the actor had been heaped with a lot of emotional turmoil, in order to deal with the grief. However, in one of his earlier interactions with Times Food, Sanjay had reminisced how he missed the delicious food that his mom used to prepare for him. He had mentioned:
“Her rogan josh and shammi kebab. She was an amazing cook. I was very young, about 21-22 when she passed away. I have memories but my sisters were young, Priya was little when she passed away.”
