In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali recalls being 'frozen' by Deepika Padukone's beauty during their first meeting.
Deepika Padukone, one of Bollywood’s most beautiful and beloved figures, is celebrated for her remarkable acting talent and captivating charisma. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali shared that he felt completely 'frozen' when Deepika Padukone opened the door during his first visit to her home.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali remarked that he was taken aback not only by Deepika’s beauty but also by her voice. It was a moment that left a lasting impression on him. He said, "She started talking, and I realised her voice was beautiful". This moment encapsulated the depth of his admiration for her talent.
The filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, further said that when he met Deepika for the first time at her house, she opened the door, and her beauty and eyes struck him. He realised that there was so much subtlety, fragility, and beauty in her. In his words:
"When I met Deepika, when I went to her house for the first time, she opened the door. I froze by the beauty of the woman, by the eyes, when I realised that there’s so much of subtlety, so much of fragility, there’s so much of beauty.”
Working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on three successive films, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat, Padukone stated in an interview with a daily that working with the filmmaker has been very hard. She noted that collaborating with him is quite demanding, but it pushes her to deliver her best performances.
In retrospect, Deepika Padukone revealed on her Instagram stories a while back that her first movie, Om Shanti Om, released on November 9, 2007, concurrently with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. She expressed her gratitude for her debut, even though his film, Saawariya was released on the same day. She felt fortunate for the opportunity he gave her. Deepika expressed that she didn't believe she could be a role model for someone like him at the time.
Going back to 2012, Deepika Padukone remembered being sick to the point of bed when her team told her that Bhansali wanted to talk to her about a film. Taken aback by this, she declared that she would give anything to meet him, but she was unable to leave her bed. Shortly after, Deepika learned that he was on his way to see her.
Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film, Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty, has just unveiled its trailer teaser. The film features a star-studded cast, including Ajay Devgn, Jackie Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor Khan. It is set to hit theaters on November 1, 2024.
