Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sanjeeda Shaikh briefly met, and the latter did not give any audition for 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.'
Sanjeeda Shaikh is one of the most famous faces in the entertainment industry. The actress was seen in series like Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa, Kayamath, Ek Hasina Thi, and Love Ka Hai Intezaar. Apart from that, she has been a part of the movies like Taish, Kaali Khuhi, and Fighter. Moreover, the actress's role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's first web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has received much love from the audience. For the unversed, Sanjeeda, in the series, played the role of 'Waheeda', and in a recent interview, the actress revealed that she didn't give any audition for the series.
In a recent interview with Filmygyan, Sanjeeda Shaikh shared that she was aware of the fact that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was making a series called Heeramandi. Talking more about the same, Sanjeeda recalled that she and SLB first met 10-15 years ago. Sanjeeda said ahead of Heeramandi's look test, she and SLB had a brief meet-up for 10 minutes, and she thought that the director would not remember her, but he did and complimented her that she was looking fresher and happier. Sharing how SLB told her not to discuss this brief meeting with anyone, Sanjeeda added:
"It was a brief meeting of 10 minutes, and sir mujhse 10- 15 saal pehle mil chuke the, I thought he would not remember about the meeting, but he did, and he was like, You are looking better, looking fresher, and looking happier. And then he asked me not to tell anyone about this meeting.”

Going forward in the interview, Sanjeeda Shaikh mentioned that there was no audition for her and only the look test took place after 3-4 months of that brief meeting. Talking more about the same, Sanjeeda mentioned that after she went to give the look test, the team was doing prosthetics, as it was needed for the character, who had a scar on her face. The actress shared that Sanjay Leela Bhansali was doing the look test all by himself, and she was asked to try on different outfits and do various elements. After which, Sanjay said:
"Ye hai meri Waheeda.”
For the unversed, Sanjeeda Shaikh's character in Heeramandi had a huge scar on her face. There's no denying the fact that the actress did proper justice to her role in such a way that the scar itself seemed to have its own kind of storyline. However, talking about the same, in an interview with Instant Bollywood, Sanjeeda shared that the scar on 'Waheeda's face was the foundation of her character, and it reminded her of who she was and who she has become as well as who she wouldn't want to be.

Talking about her love for only the scar in 'Waheeda's character, Sanjeeda stated that first, when the scar was put on her face, it was kind of technical, but she became fond of it, and it suddenly became a part of herself. Speaking about the same, Sanjeeda shared that she was so in love with that scar that she later even refused to go to rehearsals without it.
