Shah Rukh Khan become India's highest-paid celebrity, paying taxes worth Rs. 92 crore. He was followed on the list by Tamil actor, Vijay.
Shah Rukh Khan is one of the leading superstars in Bollywood. The actor, who took a brief break from acting in 2018, returned to the big screen in 2023 and delivered three back-to-back hits. Adding another feather to his hat, SRK has become the highest taxpayer in Bollywood. The actor has even left behind his fellow superstars, like Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
According to a report by Fortune India, it is stated that Shah Rukh Khan achieved significant box office success with global earnings of more than Rs. 2,000 crores. Thus, he became the person who topped the list of the top 10 tax-paying celebrities. Shah Rukh Khan paid taxes worth Rs. 92 crores, while Tamil actor, Vijay took the second spot by paying taxes worth Rs. 80 crores.
The top five Indian celebrities also include Salman Khan, who paid taxes worth Rs. 75 crore, Amitabh Bachchan (Rs. 71 crore), and Virat Kohli (Rs. 66 crore) in taxes. The other celebrities on the list included the names of Shahid Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, Ranbir Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, Kiara Advani and Katrina Kaif. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun and Mohanlal became the highest celebrity taxpayers in the Telugu and Malayalam film industries, respectively and coincidentally paid Rs. 14 crores in taxes.
Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan sat for an interview with Variety and talked about the struggles in his Bollywood journey. He recalled the time when his films weren't doing well, and his film, Zero, failed at the box office. Though Shah Rukh worked hard for the film and actively promoted it, the film failed to perform well at the box office. The Pathaan actor shared that it was a difficult phase for him, and he didn't feel like acting anymore for a while after that. SRK recalled that he was supposed to begin shooting for another film a month after Zero's release but backed out.
SRK has had a successful career in Bollywood. However, despite working hard, one of his most ambitious films, Zero, failed at the box office. So, Shah Rukh took a long break from acting in 2019 and made a stellar comeback in 2023. He impressed the audience with his back-to-back superhit films, Pathaan, Jawaan, and Dunki. The films were a success at the box office. Now, SRK will be next seen in Sujoy Ghosh's King.
