Zameen par toh kai badshah hukumat karte aaye hain, aur usne raaj kiya sabhi ke dilon ka. Kaafi milti jhulti hai na ye kahaani (points to himself) par ye kahaani hai Mufasa ki."

Speaking about Bollywood's Badshah, he is a self-made star in the truest sense. Shah Rukh Khan lost his father, Mir Taj Mohammed Khan, to cancer in 1981 when he was just a teenager. Not long after, his mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, passed away due to diabetes complications in 1991 when the actor was 24. These incidents occurred before Shah Rukh had made his Bollywood debut, but he was determined not to give up. At the Global Freight Summit in Dubai, the star opened up about what motivated him to keep going and said:
"So I started working very hard, I became very determined to be successful because I didn't want my parents to feel bad that they've not fended for me. So it's a very strange way to look at things. But I knew they shouldn't feel that way."
