Shah Rukh Khan Would Come To Sets Intoxicated For His Role In 'Devdas', Reveals A Co-Star

Shah Rukh Khan's 2002 film, 'Devdas' was a massive hit, where he essayed the role of a drunkard. Now, a co-star revealed that SRK actually used to be intoxicated during the scenes.

Shah Rukh Khan is the most bankable actor of B-Town. Lovingly addressed as the King Khan of Bollywood, SRK has a number of blockbuster movies in his kitty, but his 2002 release, Devdas, remains forever iconic. The film features Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit, and the trio created magic on-screen. Recently, we came across a report which revealed several juicy details from the sets of the legendary movie.

Shah Rukh Khan in reality, used to be intoxicated during the shoot of Devdas

Sanjay Lal Bhansali's directorial movie, Devdas presented Shah Rukh Khan in a never-before-seen avatar, where he turned into a drunkard after his ladylove, ‘Paro,’ played by Aishwarya Rai, tied the knot with somebody else. In the majority of the film, SRK’s character, ‘Dev,’ was seen intoxicated and pinning over his lost love. However, recently, his co-star, Tiku Talsania, who played the role of ‘Dharamdas’ in the movie, revealed a shocking detail from the movie.

Tiku Talsania revealed that Shah Rukh Khan used to gulp down shots of rum to get into the character of ‘Dev’. He would sit outside in the scorching afternoon heat and take one shot after the other. When someone questioned why he was doing so, SRK replied, “Sir, acting toh ho jayegi, aankhon mein sharab dikhti nahi hai na, uska kya?" Such was the dedication of the megastar. Tiku Talsania further added that SRK would prepare in advance for his role and vehemently practiced his scenes.

Milind Gunaji shared that Shah Rukh Khan is a very empathetic person

Milind Gunaji, another co-star of Shah Rukh Kha from Devdas, revealed that the latter is an extremely humble person and would go to great lengths for his cast and crew. He shared an incident where, during the film's shoot, he lost his father. Upon hearing this, SRK was ready to stop the shoot to give Milind time to grieve. He added that SRK supported him throughout the shoot.
