In a recent interview, Shahid Kapoor opened up about his constant comparisons with Shah Rukh Khan and called it the worst thing that ever happened to him.
Shahid Kapoor is a talented actor, who is well-known for his unconventional roles in his films. Time and again, he proved his mettle in acting and even faced comparisons with other actors. More recently, Shahid is looking forward to the release of his action films, Farzi and Bloody Daddy. During the promotions of the same, he pointed out how people have often drawn comparisons with Shah Rukh Khan and called it the worst thing that ever happened to him.
In an interview with PinkVilla, Shahid Kapoor opened up about his constant comparisons with Shah Rukh Khan and mentioned that he hates how actors are always compared to the ones who are already successful. He also added that it is the dumbest logic that he has ever heard in his life and said:
“It’s the worst thing that can happen. Why should you be the next anything? You are you and they are they. And that is the worst part of the job that you are doing, that you must be like somebody who is already successful. If you are like them, by virtue of that, you will be successful in the future. This is the dumbest logic that I have ever heard in my life.”

Shahid Kapoor further added that if people like a certain ice cream flavour, it doesn't mean that they should not be given some other flavour. Similarly, if an actor is loved by many, other actors should not try to be like him, instead, they should have their own identity and fanbase. In his words:
“It’s like somebody who makes ice-creams. If they give somebody vanilla ice-cream since they like vanilla, they only keep giving them vanilla ice-cream. No. You have to be another flavour of ice-cream. You have to make people like you, despite the fact that they like something else. And one day, you should be so good that people forget everything else and just want to consume only you. Why do you want somebody’s light? Every individual can be their own sun.”
Earlier, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shahid Kapoor opened up about his struggling days and shared that he is a self-made actor. He also shared that he gets really upset whenever somebody calls him a star kid and mentions that he got into stardom because of his father, Pankaj Kapur. The actor had said:
“I’m one of those self-made guys who people think because his papa was an actor, he got it easy. And I get very upset with that. I’m like ‘hey guys, you don’t know my struggle’. Just because my father was Pankaj Kapur doesn’t mean that I had it easy because I didn’t even live with him. I lived with my mom.”
