Shahid Kapoor revealed what it felt like to be tagged as the 'chocolate boy' in the industry. The actor also added what his dad, Pankaj Kapur advised him on this aspect.
Shahid Kapoor is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood, who never leaves any stone unturned to carve a space in the hearts of his fans. The actor stepped into Bollywood with the movie, Ishq Vishk and earned the title of the 'chocolate boy' of the industry. Currently, Shahid is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, alongside Kriti Sanon. And now, in a recent interview, Shahid opened up about how it felt like to earn the 'chocolate boy' title in the industry.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Shahid Kapoor shared that his debut film brought him the title of 'chocolate boy', which he generally didn't like much. The actor mentioned that he didn't want people only to focus on his looks and wardrobe choices; rather, he wanted people to dig deeper and understand that he is more than just a good-looking boy and is an artist. Shahid added that he wanted to change himself completely and didn't want to carry on with his clean-shaven look. Shahid can be quoted as saying:
"When I did Ishq Vishq, the word that was associated with me was ‘chocolate boy.’ I felt extremely bad, I wondered what did that even mean, ye chocolate boy hota kya hai? I am an artiste, I want to express, I am not here only for visual gratification. Looking good, dressing well etc are just one layer, then you have to dig deep and I started doing just that. I completely changed myself, I didn’t want to be clean shaven and do the same thing. That became exciting for me."

“My father told me, beta jis din acting karna shuru kar doge, sher ke muh me khoon lag jayega. You will derive the most happiness from that. Somewhere in the middle of my career, this happened with me. So now I just want that– even though I am vegetarian."
In the same interview, Shahid Kapoor mentioned that he doesn't like to do the same thing repetitively as some stars, to whom only the numbers and collection matter the most. Shahid said he was not like the stars, and he was genuinely creative in his heart. Talking more about the same, Shahid added that he didn't take this job just only to be safe; rather, he wanted to bring creativity by doing different kinds of work. Sharing that it doesn't matter if he fails to achieve the desired success every time and still he wants to do something creative, Shahid said:
"I didn’t take this job up to make safe decisions, to play safe and do the same thing again and again. I wanted to do something new and challenging every time, I wanted to not know how something will turn out and go through the journey of discovery. I am ok to fail, i don’t have a problem, because it teaches you a lot."
