Throwback to the time when Shahid Kapoor graced 'Koffee With Karan' for the first time with his wife, Mira Rajput, and revealed why he supported arranged marriage.
The epitome of couple goals, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput, had the most unconventional marriage. He is a star in the entertainment industry, and she was a regular Delhi-based girl completing her graduation in literature from Delhi University. Shahid and Mira were complete opposites, but they struck a chord in their first meeting.
There were many reasons why both could have second thoughts about their union. One of the major reasons was the 13-year age gap, as Shahid was 34 and Mira was merely 20. But as they say, when it is meant to be, nothing can stop it. Despite the huge age gap, different backgrounds, and interests, Mira and Shahid tied the knot in 2015.

Shahid and Mira met each other through their respective families, who are keen followers of a religious group named, Radha Soami Satsang Beas and later had an arranged marriage. In 2017, on Koffee With Karan, we were introduced to Shahid's better half, Mira, as she appeared for the first time on national television. In one of the segments of the show, Shahid revealed why he supported arranged marriage and said:
“I am a very huge supporter of this arranged marriage format because I think the graph for an arranged marriage is you come with no expectations and then if you hit it off, every day gets better than the previous one…So, I think the graph for an arranged marriage is a lot better in the long term.”
Having the most beautiful beginning to their love story, Shahid and Mira quickly became B-town’s most-loved couple. After their wedding ceremonies, Shahid Kapoor walked hand-in-hand with his wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor, to pose for the paparazzi. To introduce his wife to the world and announce his 'just married' status, Shahid captioned his selfie with Mira as "#hitched."

Since then, Shahid and Mira have been living their ‘happily ever after’ and have welcomed two little munchkins, Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor, into their lives. To mark their fourth wedding anniversary, Shahid posted the first-ever picture of his now-wife, Mira, which he had saved on his phone. Shahid captioned it as:
“Her first picture I saved on my phone. And now almost every second picture has her in it. She is #life. I love you @mira.kapoor thank you for being you.”
In an earlier interview with YouTuber, Ranveer Allahabadia, Shahid Kapoor opened up about his arranged marriage with Mira Rajput. He revealed that he did not choose her, but things happened as per destiny. Moreover, he spoke about the 13-year age gap between them and how they gradually got along despite it. In his words:
“I didn’t choose her. Maybe you should ask why she chose me. I was 13-and-a-half years older than her. We met through family, and we were unassuming enough to be open to meeting each other. We got along from the time we met, and it just happened. It was meant to happen. When I look back even I wonder, yeh kaise ho gaya?”

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Shahid Kapoor revealed that he had only one plate and two spoons when Mira Rajput moved in with him after their marriage. In the same interview, he also mentioned that Mira was shocked to see her husband had been living with bare minimum essentials. Recalling the moment, the actor revealed that Mira was worried about how they would host the guests at their home.
Over the years, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput have proved that no pin code, age, social status, religion, or caste matter when one is in love.
