Shakti Kapoor joined the fifth season of Bigg Boss as a contestant in 2011, revealing during the premiere that his daughter, Shraddha Kapoor, had encouraged him to participate. The actor spent 28 days inside the house and became the fifth contestant to be evicted. Shakti revealed to Rediff.com that his motivation for joining the show had been a little different than his fellow contestants.
While others may have joined the show to win, Shakti was merely there to prove a point to his kids, Shraddha and Siddhant. Revealing that he wanted to show them that he could abstain from alcohol for a one-month period, Shakti said:
"I was not there to win but to prove to my children that I can stay away from alcohol for a month. I am proud that I could prove that. Also, they were happy that there were no fights in the house when I was the captain. Now my daughter Shraddha says that she wants to be born as my daughter even in her next life."
The pride in Shakti Kapoor's performance on Bigg Boss 5 seemingly ran through the family. It wasn't just Shraddha who was impressed with his behavior inside the house, but also his doting wife, Shivangi. During the conversation with Rediff.com, Shakti opened up about the sweetest interaction he had with Shivangi about his performance on the show, saying:
"My wife is also proud of me and the way I have conducted myself on the show. She said that she loves me more than she ever loved me. So I told her that I will take her for another honeymoon."

Shakti further discussed his parenting style, expressing pride in how he had always encouraged her to be independent and make her own choices.
