Archana Puran Singh expressed her gratitude to actor, Shakti Kapoor for being willing to help her when she wanted to buy a flat.
Shakti Kapoor, born Sunil Kapoor, is an Indian actor who has featured in over 700 films. Known for his antagonist and comic roles, Shakti has teamed up in comic or villainous teams with actors, Asrani and Kader Khan in more than 100 films. Sunil Dutt was the first to cast the actor in a negative role in Sanjay Dutt's debut film, Rocky. For the unversed, Sunil Dutt was the one to rename the actor's name from Sunil to Shakti as he felt the name would be more fitting for his stint.
Archana Puran Singh is a part of the Netflix show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, along with Kapil Sharma and Krushna Abhishek. In one of the episodes, Govinda, Shakti Kapoor and Chunky Pandey were invited as guests. During the feature, Archana shared how Shakti Kapoor had offered to help Archana when she was trying to buy a flat. Archana, on her YouTube channel, shared a vlog from the set of The Great Indian Kapil Show.
In the vlog, Shakti was seen teasing Archana by pointing out how she has already bought three bungalows and is now negotiating the fourth one. Archana teasingly responded to Shakti and stated, "Nazar na laga tu." The actor responded, "Meri nazar aapko lag hi nahi sakti." Archana, in the same conversation, recalled the time when Shakti Kapoor had offered to loan her Rs. 50K so she could purchase the flat she wanted. She was quoted saying:
"I can never forget. When I wanted to buy a flat, he (Shakti Kapoor) offered me Rs. 50,000 and said that if you need it, I can loan you this much. And at that time, Rs. 50,000 was a big deal."
During the episode, Chunky Pandey shared an anecdote from when Shakti Kapoor paid a bidding actor. He revealed that Shakti had once sent Rs. 50K to a budding actor. The actor wanted to be cast as a villain, and since Shakti had established his monopoly over antagonist roles in the '90s, he did not want to be replaced. So instead, he paid the actor Rs. 50K and promised to cast him as a hero. However, Shakti refused to confirm the story and called it a lie. Chunky Pandey was quoted as:
"There was this other actor about to debut as a major villain. Shakti got worried. He sent Rs 50,000 to the actor, asking him not to take up villain roles because he was casting him as a hero. The actor took the Rs 50,000 and stayed home for two years."
Shakti Kapoor has retrieved back from the films for now. The actor may not appear in many movies, but his legacy lives on with his films. The actor was last seen in the role of 'PK Mishra' in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Before that, he was seen in an episode of Guilty Minds in 2022.
