In an interview with a leading daily some time back, Shakti had stated that she cannot define herself without the word ‘family’. The Dance India Dance season 2 winner had then said, “My sisters and my parents have stood with me, in every step I have taken so far. I am a very quiet person and I love to keep to myself. This is who I am since I was a little girl and little has changed. I am a very punctual person and when it comes to ‘work’, I maintain a certain kind of discipline”.
Talking about their sister bond, she was quoted as saying, “We are a bunch of lucky sisters to have each other in our life. Our family has stood by each one of us in every move we made. If I had to name one inspiration, it would be my elder sister Neeti Mohan; she has been extremely supportive of what I wanted to do. Initially, it was a conflict between my heart and my mind, my mind was asking me to take IAS as a career because I didn’t know if I would just be a background dancer or a choreographer. I was completely confused and Neeti di told me that even if I do not make a living out of it she will take care of me. I pushed my boundaries and took a leap, because of the faith she had in me”.
