In a recent interview, Shalini Pandey, who is often compared to Alia Bhatt for their facial resemblance, revealed her views over it. Here's what she said.
Shalini Pandey has been one of the most promising stars to gain the limelight in 2024. Despite her young age and limited experience, she proved her mettle with impressive performances like 'Preethi' in Arjun Reddy and 'Kishori' in Maharaj. Apart from her work, Shalini Panday's facial resemblance to Alia Bhatt also became the talk of the town. However, it seems like the diva isn't too happy with the same and recently shared her views about it.
When Shalini Panday debuted with Vijay Deverakonda's Arjun Reddy, she became a national sensation for her beauty, acting skills and innocence. Also, her chemistry with Vijay stole the show. But, when she began working in Hindi films in 2024, people noticed her facial similarities with Alia Bhatt, which went viral. In an interview with Instant Bollywood, the actress discussed it and mentioned that she isn't okay with the comparisons. In her words:
"Alia hai! We don't need another Alia, and no one should be another because Alia is so amazing. "
Shalini Pandey mentioned that she admires the actress for her looks, acting skills and personality. But she doesn't want to be recognised as another Alia because the industry already has one. At the same time, she would like to imbibe some of the admirable qualities of the actress but also wants to maintain her unique identity. Consequently, she isn't happy with the comparisons. Shalini explained:
"I don't want to be like that because there is one Alia. Of course, you know there are so many admirable qualities that you want to take, but I also want to have my own individuality. I want people to look at me for who Shalini is rather than box me into something. That I'm not okay with, but when they compare with love, of course, it's a great comparison because she's just lovely."
When the video of Shalini Panday's interview went viral, fans once again began to point out the similarities between her and Alia. One netizen wrote, "Bhai, she is literally minu Alia. Look at her voice and the way she talks." Another user wrote, "She even talks like Alia. Striking similarities between both."
Shalini Pandey began her career as a theatre artist and debuted with the Telugu film, Arjun Reddy, where she starred opposite Vijay Deverakonda and became popular. She continued to work in South Indian films like Mahanti, 100% Kadhal, Mahanati etc and gained attention in Hindi films after starring alongside Ranveer Singh in Jayeshbhai Jordaar in 2022, but the film failed to perform at the box office. After a hiatus of two years, she played a brief role in Junaid Khan's Maharaj, which brought her into the spotlight. The diva was last seen in Dabba Cartel.
