The entrepreneur requested people to opt for cooking instead of ordering food online. The entrepreneur raised concerns over the excessive use of palm oil, old vegetables, frozen purees, and many such items in processed foods. Not only this, Shantanu also added that India is suffering from an epidemic of poor nutrition and unhealthy processed food.
The entrepreneur's decision to even mention Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto created a stir in the business world, as people are lauding him for raising his voice against such big brands. Shantanu Deshpande made an appeal to Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto that reads, "Zomato and Swiggy and Zepto - please, don't. And if you are so keen, please make the product palatable." However, at the end of his LinkedIn post, Shantanu mentioned Revant Himatsingka, AKA Food Pharmer. Well, the post is doing rounds on social media, and he is getting a lot of love from the netizens.
Shantanu Deshpande was born in 1987 in Dallas, United States, into a wealthy family. He is the son of Kiran Deshpande, who was working with TCS in the USA back when Shantanu was born. It was in 1997 when Shantanu's family came back to India, and the youngster completed his schooling at Pune's Vikhe Patil School. For graduation, Shantanu took admission to Nagpur's VNIT, from where he completed his B.Tech degree. After this, he joined IIM Lucknow, where he pursued an MBA.
After completing his degrees, Shantanu Deshpande joined McKinsey and worked there as an external advisor for some time. The organisation played a major role in his career as it shaped him as an individual and was vital in his character-building. Shantanu spent five years in McKinsey, and in 2016, he co-founded Bombay Shaving Company with Rohit Jaiswal, Raunak Munot, and Deepu Panicker. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Shantanu Deshpande's company recorded a 3X growth in its revenue, and it is now a leading name in the grooming industry.
