Shanthi Priya rose to fame with her acting in the late 80s and left the filmy world after her marriage. In a recent interview, the actress expressed her regret about the same.
Shanthi Priya is known for acting in Tamil and Telugu films in the 80s. The actress entered the Hindi film industry by starring opposite Akshay Kumar in his debut movie, Saugandh, in 1991. Despite working in several successful films, the actress decided to step away from acting. She made the crucial decision after tying the knot with actor, Siddharth Ray. The actress recently sat down for an interview with Bollywood Bubble and shared her views on it.
Shanthi Priya left the glitzy industry after taking the vows in 1992. The actress intended to focus on her family rather than her work. However, the actress now regrets her decision over the time. At the same time, she talked about the different challenges she faced to make her comeback after a long time. Taking cues from her experience, Shanthi advises newcomers not to leave the industry. She was quoted as saying:
"Chodhna mat industry ko, aana bahut mushkil hai. I still think that I shouldn't have quit Bollywood. Because I felt I did not value my work. When I'm seeing my comeback now, the way I'm doing, which I never did when I was a newcomer. So my advice to all the newcomers who get married but don't leave the industry, but if you want to leave the industry, think twice."

Shanthi stepped into the Hindi film industry, co-starring Akshay Kumar in his debut film, Saugandh. She was shooting for her movie, Vishwamitra when she was offered a three-film contract in Bollywood. Recalling her experience of working with the Good Newwz actor, Shanthi shared that the actor used to have a lot of fun. For the unversed, Akshay Kumar is known to be a prankster in Bollywood, and his co-stars often share their anecdotes in interviews. Shanthi revealed that she hasn't met the star in recent times. She said:
"He was like that from day 1, very mastikhor. I can tell you that he has changed from the first schedule to the second schedule. In the first schedule, he was very quiet and calm thinking that he was just new. But he was very fun and I can vouch for it. I have spoken to him a couple of years back but I have not recently spoken or met him anywhere. "
Shanthi Priya entered the world of acting in her late teens. The actress was famous and was offered several Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi films simultaneously. She married in her 20s and had kids. But, her husband passed away in 2004 due to a heart attack. The actress revealed that she left the industry because she was in love, and the actresses didn't get much work after their marriage in those days. In her interview with the Hindustan Times, she recalled:
"I was in love and in a haze, all I wanted was to get married. But back then, female actors didn't find enough work after marriage. Today, it's different, and I'm glad it has changed. Content is king now."

Taking gradual steps, Shanthi Priya has made her way back into the industry. She has been working on a Tamil project produced by Vetrimaaran. At the same time, she is also working on the second season of MX Player's Dharavi Bank. Shanthi intends to work on challenging roles and is excited for the audience to see her work. The actress desires to work on good content irrespective of the medium.
