Shark Tank India pitcher, Gauri Varma slammed Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh and accused them of being a little bit dismissive.
Shark Tank India 4 has been winning hearts since the time it aired on television. The way the entrepreneurs are arriving on the show and pitching their brands, by securing a deal is something really interesting and inspiring to witness. Moreover, a few days ago, an entrepreneur, Gauri Varma arrived on the show, and made a deal with Namita Thapar. Well, she was a bit upset with the sharks, Peyush and Anupam. And recently, she talked about the same thereby blasting Anumpam Mittal and Vineeta Singh.
It was a few days ago, a Delhi-based entrepreneur, Gauri Varma pitched her confectionary brand, Confect, to the panel of sharks and secured a deal with Namita Thapar, with the latter's investment of Rs. 1 crore for 2 percent equity and 2 percent royalty. Well, it was Anupam Mittal, who questioned Gauri, when she said that she has a habit of restlessness, and each year, she just has to learn a new thing. Anupam said that is the point that he was uneasy about betting on her. Anupam also pointed out that Gauri moved to the US market by leaving behind her business in India.
Well, in a recent interview with Indian Express, Gauri Varma talked about the same and shared her experience. She said that pitchers are given 3 minutes to talk and post the same, and a frenzy just erupts there. Gauri stated that she was not even able to complete a sentence and was being interrupted by the Sharks, except Namita Thapar who was listening. She added that the pitch went on for 45 minutes, but a small portion was telecasted. Well, she pointed out how she said that change is necessary for an entrepreneur and how she was criticised for the same.
Talking more about the same, Gauri shared that since the time she graced the stage, it was Vineeta Singh, who 'went after her'. She called some of the Sharks, 'dismissive' and mentioned she couldn't understand when Vineeta said, 'Theek to hai' when she showed the cake and called it a 'disaster'. She also added how it brought her a different connotation when Anupam Mittal picked out her statement that she wanted to do something new every year. She said:
"Right from the time I entered the tank, Vineeta just went after me. When I showed the cake and said it was a disaster, she said, ‘Theek toh hai.’ I was like are you for real. I was just not understanding how they were not seeing what I was seeing. Similarly, when Anupam said it was my nature to do something different every few years, he gave it a completely different connotation. He found a hook and went with it."
In the same conversation, Gauri stated that she felt like the sharks were not interested in the business or the commodity or a category that didn’t intrigue them. She called the sharks dismissive and mentioned how, for the first 20 minutes, no numbers, except her company's turnover, were discussed. She also remarked that the statements that were given by the sharks, were just for saying only and nothing more. Gauri can be quoted as saying:
"Speaking from my experience, I felt they were not interested in the business or it was a commodity or a category that didn’t intrigue them. They were a little dismissive. They wanted to say something for the heck of saying it. They didn’t give me a chance to put forward any valid points. In the 20-minute episode, not a single number other than my turnover was discussed."
