Sharmin Segal reacted to her viral video of calling Aditi Rao Hydari a schoolgirl, and clarified that the remark was taken out of context.
Sharmin Segal grabbed a lot of attention for all the wrong reasons, ever since Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar got released. Despite putting in all her hardwork, the diva wasn’t accepted by the audience in terms of her performance, as they found her lacking in expressions and emotions. Furthermore, many of her interview clips made rounds on the internet, which hinted at Sharmin being rude with her co-stars. For instance, during one such interactions during the promotions of her series, she tagged her co-star, Aditi Rao Hydari as a 'school girl’. And now, Sharmin offered a clarification and revealed the real context behind such wrong assumptions.
In an interaction with India Today, Sharmin Segal addressed the mammoth hatred coming towards her way, especially over the fact that she has been called arrogant when it comes to her behaviour towards her co-stars. In her response, Sharmin set the record straight and expressed how most of her interviews have been misinterpreted, making her look like a very disrespectful person. Expressing how she, on the contrary, shares an amicable equation with most of her co-stars, Sharmin said:
“Things are being taken out of context to the point where they are trying to make me look like a disrespectful person to my co-stars or arrogant or rude, which is not the equation I share with any of my co-stars.”

Moving forth in the interview, Sharmin Segal talked about her viral video, wherein she commented on Aditi Rao Hydari as being a ‘schoolgirl’. She clarified that she made such a remark not by intention, but just because the entire cast and crew was briefed about the event being a roast video. She also talked about another incident, when headlines claimed that ‘Sharmin made fun of Richa Chadha’. The diva said:
“There was this one interview that came out where I think I called Aditi a school girl and that was actually… we were told in the beginning of that interview that it was a roast. In that same interview, Richa has looked at me and said acha tujhe khana bhi banana aata hai? So in that interview, that also got taken out of context that Richa is roasting Sharmin and making fun of her.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Sharmin Segal revealed that her equation with Aditi Rao Hydari is completely different from what media has been interpreting it as, based on some selected clips worth minutes. She mentioned that Aditi looks out for her, and so does she. Moreover, Sharmin expressed that both of them often feed one another, and have spent some of the most special moments together. In her words:
“The equation I share with Aditi is very different. She looks out for me, I look out for her. We feed each other. We talk to each other. We spend time together on set and off set and she is one of the people who have most actively called me, checked in on me, made sure I was okay throughout this month. I love her. So I think it’s a complete misrepresentation of my equation with Aditi. I have only respect for her.”

Earlier, in one of her interviews, Sharmin Segal had stated how she tried to follow the footsteps of Hindi cinema’s tragedy queen, Meena Kumari, in order to nail her role as ‘Alamzeb’ in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. However, what followed her remark was that the actress got misquoted by the netizens, who believed that she compared herself with the legendary actress. Previously, in an interview with Zoom, Sharmin addressed the same and explained that her entire comment was misinterpreted, and what she conveyed never meant to disrespect the actress or her skills.
