In a recent interview, Sharmin Segal broke her silence over receiving constant backlash over her acting skills in 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar'.
Ever since the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, on Netflix, Sharmin Segal has been receiving a lot of backlash. The actress failed to impress the audience with her role of 'Alamzeb' in the OTT project. Sharmin was reportedly so disturbed by the trolling that she disabled the comments on her Instagram handle as she couldn't take the hurtful criticism online.
In a candid conversation with the BBC Asian Network podcast, Sharmin Segal opened up about the constant criticism and shared her views on getting slammed for her acting skills. Talking about the same, the actress highlighted the pressure she has undergone and shared her support system throughout the highs and lows. She said:
“If I start taking all that pressure on myself… I am a very strong advocate for mental health and living a happy life. So, I do want to do what I want to do and I would love for everyone to love Alamzeb. But, at the end of the day, there will be people who have to say what they have to say.”

She also mentioned she likes to keep her professional side away from her personal life. Speaking along the same lines, Sharmin shared that she is unaffected by the criticism because when she comes home to her husband, she puts everything aside. However, she added that she still wants to prove herself and said:
“In my personal life, I am secure enough today to come home to my husband and put everything that I have done at work aside. But I am not that person who’s gonna constantly put that much pressure on it. Yes, I do want to prove myself; but today I am also a realist in that way."
Sharmin Segal was initially bothered by the merciless trolling she received on a regular basis. The situation got so out of hand that she went MIA on social media. Later, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Sharmin's Heeramandi co-star, Shruti Sharma, expressed her concerns over the hate the former received and said:
“Honestly, I wasn’t aware that people were trolling her until now. I don’t know what audiences have liked or not liked about Sharmin, but I’ve seen her trying her best like everyone else on the sets. It doesn’t matter who’s being trolled, but trolling is a bad thing to do. Criticism is one thing; healthy criticism is always welcome, but trolling is unacceptable. It is a very negative way of approaching anyone. It is a kind of mental harassment. If it is happening, I am very concerned for her right now."

Recently, a Reddit user shared a video featuring Sharmin Segal, Sonakshi Sinha, and Aditi Rao Hydari on the discussion platform. The trio was seen sitting on a couch for an interview, and Sharmin was enacting one of her dialogues from the web series, Heeramandi. While Sharmin tried to impress everyone with her acting spree, it was Sonakshi and Aditi's expressions that caught our attention. The duo was finding it hard to control their laughter, and their reactions left everyone going ROFL. As the video went viral on the internet, many netizens flooded the post's comment section with their hilarious reactions to Sonakshi and Aditi controlling themselves after watching Sharmin's acting.
