Amid severe backlash, we have got hold of the reports about Sharmin Segal's remuneration for the role of 'Alamzeb' in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar'.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, was released on Netflix and created a stir among the audience. The cast, sets, costumes, jewellery and everything else about the project was top-notch. However, the filmmaker's niece, Sharmin Segal, failed to impress the audience and received a lot of backlash for her poor acting skills. The actress played the role of 'Alamzeb' in the OTT project and was slammed for her expressionless acting and monotone delivery.
With so much hatred spewed on Sharmin Segal's way, everyone is curious to know how much the actress was paid for her role. Now, the reports by Money Control and Prestige revealed that Sharmin was paid approximately Rs 35 lakh for her stint in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Despite being Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece, Sharmin was the lowest-paid actress amongst the main cast.

SLB's project, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has been reportedly made with a budget of a whopping Rs 200 crores. Earlier, a report in Miss Malini revealed that Sonakshi Sinha is the highest-paid actress in the series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. She was paid Rs 2 crore for her role in the OTT project, and rightly so. Another report by Filmibeat stated that Manisha Koirala got paid Rs 1 crore, Aditi Rao Hydari earned somewhere between Rs 1 to 1.5 crores, Richa Chadha got Rs 1 crore while Sanjeeda Sheikh earned Rs 40 lakhs for their respective roles.
Meanwhile, in a candid conversation with the BBC Asian Network podcast, Sharmin Segal opened up about the constant criticism and shared her views on getting slammed for her acting skills. Talking about the same, the actress highlighted the pressure she has undergone and shared her support system throughout the highs and lows. She said:
“If I start taking all that pressure on myself… I am a very strong advocate for mental health and living a happy life. So, I do want to do what I want to do and I would love for everyone to love Alamzeb. But, at the end of the day, there will be people who have to say what they have to say.”

Earlier, Sharmin Segal appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show with the leading ladies of Heeramandi, including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Sanjeeda Shaikh. During the same, Kapil jokingly asked Sharmin if she had to audition for the web series as Sanjay Leela Bhansali is her uncle. To this, the actress revealed that she desperately wanted to work with the filmmaker, ignoring the fact that he's her 'mamu'. Thus, she gave sixteen auditions for her selection in the series, and SLB groomed her for an entire year.
