In a recent interview, Sharmin Segal cleared the air about her tiff with her co-stars and her comment on Meena Kumari.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Heeramandi, has been receiving a lot of love from the audience ever since its release. Though all the characters received a lot of love for their effortless acting, the one actress who has been receiving endless trolls is Sharmin Segal. Soon after the release of the series, Sharmin faced constant mocking, where people mimicked her expressionless dialogues in the series.
Sharmin, who played the pivotal role of 'Alamzeb' in Heeramandi, is in the limelight. There have been reports of her tiff with her co-stars, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Sheikh. In the promotional interviews, Sharmin's attitude towards her co-stars was termed rude and arrogant. She also reportedly compared her acting to the legendary actress Meena Kumari.

Now in a recent conversation with Zoom, Sharmin revealed how her take on Meena Kumari was misinterpreted. Clearing the air on her statement, Sharmin said:
“I don’t know why people are leaving out the sentence that I said which was, ‘I tried to emulate the way Meena Kumari ji looks into nothingness’ and just extracting the word ‘nothingness’ from what I said. In no way was I calling Meena Kumariji or her performance in Paakeezah ‘nothingness’. That is not something I would ever do. I was referring to the way she stares into infinity and looks at something celestial that only she can see, whereas in reality there is nothing there."
Going further in the interview, Sharmin also revealed that people only picked the negative words of her statement. The actress also stated that she never compared herself with the legend, Meena Kumari. In her words:
"It is just sad how people have literally only picked up one negative word, which wasn’t meant to be negative and taken it out of context. I would also like to make one more thing clear on this issue. I would never compare myself to Meena Kumariji. She is a legend. I was just inspired by her greatness. As an artist, we are always inspired by our surroundings and the people we look up to. It was never a comparison.”

In the same interaction, Sharmin also threw light on the reports of her tiff with her co-stars, Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Stating her interview clips were taken out of context, Aditi shared:
“Some of my co-stars have spoken graciously as to how these interviews were taken out of context. I share a very cordial equation with both Aditi and Sanjeeda. I wish that people would not use 10 second out of context clips to define the relationship I share with them.”
Earlier, a video of Sharmin Segal surfaced online, wherein she was seen getting into a disagreement with Aditi Rao Hydari over her statement about actors. In the clip, Sharmin was heard saying, “Actor ki jaat insecure hoti hai.” However, her statement didn't go down well with Aditi, who immediately disagreed with her and interjected, “Nahi, but actors are human beings.” Sharmin further tried to clarify her stance and mentioned that insecurity brings out the best in every actor. Reacting to Sharmin's comment, Aditi said:
“No no, insecurity is horrible. No, I don’t like it.”
