Shatrughan Sinha, in a recent interview, opened up about the controversial absence of his sons, Luv and Kussh, from Sonakshi Sinha's wedding celebrations.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding was one of the most talked-about events of 2024. The couple, who had been in a relationship for seven years, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony surrounded by close friends and family. However, the absence of Sonakshi’s brothers, Luv and Kussh from the wedding didn’t go unnoticed. After all these months, Shatrughan Sinha opened up about the absence of the brothers.
Veteran actor and father of the bride, Shatrughan Sinha, recently sat for a conversation with Lehren Retro, delving into his career, love life, and, of course, the wedding of his only daughter, Sonakshi Sinha. At one point, the conversation drifted to the conspicuous absence of Luv and Kussh from their sister’s wedding. Shatrughan finally addressed the matter and said:
“I won’t complain. They are only humans. They may still not be so mature. I do understand their pain and confusion. There is always a cultural reaction. Maybe, if I was their age, I might have had a similar reaction to it. But, here is where your maturity, seniority, and experience come in place. Hence, my reaction was not as extreme as my sons.”
For those who don’t know, Sonakshi Sinha had an inter-faith marriage with Zaheer Iqbal. While many had speculated that Shatrughan might not have been so thrilled about the union, he has proved his approval of his son-in-law on multiple occasions. When asked about his stance on Sonakshi’s interfaith wedding in the interview, Shatrughan was unequivocal in his support. He said:
“Of course, I will support my daughter. I don’t have any reason not to. It’s their life and their wedding. They have to lead a life. If they are sure about each other, who are we to be against it? As a parent and as a father, it was my duty to support her. I have always been with her, and I will continue to be so. We speak so much about women's empowerment, how is it wrong for her to choose her partner? Not like she did anything illegal. She was mature.”
Further in the conversation, the proud father recalled the amount of joy he felt at his daughter’s wedding, from their intimate marriage to a star-studded reception afterwards. Despite the absence of Luv and Kussh, Shatrughan was seen actively celebrating with his family. Talking about the same, Shatrughan shared:
“I was enjoying her wedding parties. Meeting and greeting people brought me immense joy. Sonakshi and Zaheer looked beautiful together, and the atmosphere was truly amazing.”
Bollywood actress, Sonakshi Sinha married the love of her life, Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23, 2024, which also marked exact 7 years of their dating life. Their paths first crossed when they were both invited to a party at Salman Khan’s Galaxy apartment. The couple opted for a low-key wedding ceremony attended by only her close family and friends. Later, they had a grand reception which was attended by Bollywood’s A-listers.
