Shatrughan Sinha reacted to the ongoing buzz about his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha's wedding with Zaheer Iqbal. Well, his answer was a bit diplomatic.
Sonakshi Sinha has made it to the headlines due to her wedding speculations with her rumoured beau, Zaheer Iqbal. As per several reports, the duo will tie the knot in a close-knit ceremony on June 23, 2024. While the actress has not reacted to the same yet, her father, Shatrughan Sinha, recently reacted to all the gossip about his daughter's personal life. And well, he neither confirmed nor denied the wedding rumours and rather gave a very diplomatic response.
Recently, Shatrughan Sinha spoke to Zoom about the rumours about Sonakshi Sinha's wedding. The actor stated that he is in Delhi and has no idea about his daughter, Sonakshi's wedding. Shatrughan added that he knows as much as the media knows, and thus, there's a question of whether his daughter is actually getting married. He also added that he and his wife will bless the couple if and when she will tell them about the same. Shatrughan added:
"I am in Delhi right now. After the election results, I flew down here. I haven’t spoken to anyone about my daughter’s plans. So your question is, is she getting married? The answer is that she hasn’t told me anything about it. Main bhi utna hi jaanta ho jitna main media maine padha hai. If and when she takes me into confidence, my wife and I will give the couple my blessings. We wish her all happiness always.”

Going further in the interview, Shatrughan Sinha added that he trusts his daughter, Sonakshi's judgment completely and is sure that the actress will not make any illegal decision. He also added that Sonakshi is a consenting adult and has the right to make her own decisions. Shatrughan also added that if these rumours are at all true and his daughter is actually getting married, then he would love to dance in her baaraat. Shatrughan added:
"We trust our daughter’s judgement completely. She would never make an extra-constitutional or illegal decision. As a consenting adult, she has the right to make her own decisions. Having said that, I would like to say that whenever my daughter gets married, I would like to be dancing right in front of the baaraat.”
Going further in the interview, Shatrughan Sinha added that people have been asking him why the media is aware of his daughter, Sonakshi's marriage and he is not. The actor-politician also added that in today's generation, kids do not ask for permission, but only inform. He also added that he has been waiting to be informed. Shatrughan Sinha can be quoted as saying:
"I am being asked by people close to me why I am not aware of this (the supposed wedding), and the media is aware of it. All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain. We are waiting to be informed.”
Earlier today, a report by India Today stated that Sonakshi is all set to get married to Zaheer Iqbal on June 23, 2024. As per another report by the Hindustan Times, the couple had moved in together a while ago, and they would get married at the South Mumbai eatery, Bastian. If the report is to be believed, there will be a celebration for the couple at their family home at Juhu, and their wedding will be followed by a reception party at night.

According to the reports, Sonakshi and Zaheer Khan's wedding will be graced by only family members, friends, along with several of the actress' co-stars. The wedding card was reportedly designed like a magazine cover with the note, 'The rumours are true', and the guests were asked to wear informal clothes.
