Eminent filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur remembers late icon, Sridevi and highlighted an inspiring anecdote from her superhit song, 'Kaatein Nahi Kat Te' from 'Mr India'.
Sridevi was one of the most successful actresses of her generation. Hailed as the first female superstar, she won immense praises from a thronging audience, who continue to watch her films even today. Sridevi had kickstarted her acting journey as a child artist at the age of four. Thereafter, as an adult, she went on to become a part of some of the most iconic films, across multiple languages, such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries. In her personal life, she was married to filmmaker, Boney Kapoor and blessed with two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi. For the unversed, Sridevi passed away in 2018 after she accidentally drowned in a bathtub in a hotel in Dubai.
Eminent filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur remembered the late icon, Sridevi on her 60th birth anniversary. Taking to his IG handle, Shekhar dropped a gorgeous picture of the diva, which was a still from her iconic song, Kaatein Nahi Kat Te from the film, Mr India, opposite Anil Kapoor. Draped in her stunning choice of a blue chiffon saree, Sridevi looked enchanting in the picture. Along with it, Shekhar penned a long post and revealed how the actress had shot for the iconic song despite suffering from a high fever, and hid it from everyone. Revealing how it was through the choreographer, Saroj Khan that he learnt about her condition, he mentioned:
“I remember the days we were filming this iconic song iconic image of ‘I Love you’ .. you hid from me that you were running a high fever… and you were in numbing pain. That everyone advised you to rest, and certainly not allow yourself to get wet, that you could land up being seriously ill ... I only found out from our Choreographer Saroj Khan after we had finished shooting.”

Sridevi was known as an epitome of beauty and grace. She was a true-blue diva till the last breath of her life and won hearts with her charismatic personality. In one of her older interviews with Asia Spa Magazine, Sridevi had once opened up about how she chose to age gracefully. She mentioned that she never did anything specifically related to control ageing. Revealing how she wanted to go with the flow, she mentioned:
“Not that I know of, I'm just going with the flow."
Hailed as the female superstar, Sridevi had started her journey into cinema quite early and saw film industry evolve closely. Thus, she too had faced her share of trials, tribulations and difficult times in the industry. Speaking about the same in one of her earlier interviews, Sridevi revealed how she faced sexual harassment in the film industry and recalled how one of her co-actor kept on hitting at her despite getting refused. She then revealed that the actor got so furious that during a scene where he was to follow her from behind in a jeep, he purposely ran over the car over her feet.

Sridevi’s legacy has been rightfully kept alive by her daughters, Janhvi and Khushi. Following in their mother’s footsteps, both of them have stepped into the world of acting and are enjoying a massive fan base. Speaking about them in one of her previous interviews, Sridevi mentioned how she has made both her daughters her instant mood lifters, and added that spending time with them made her come out of any distressful situation in a jiffy.
