Indian cricketer, Shikhar Dhawan penned an emotional Father's Day post. He revealed having no contact with his son, Zoravar.
The whole world is celebrating Father’s Day on June 16, 2024, with much pomp and show. However, this celebratory occasion is a bit emotional for Indian cricketer, Shikhar Dhawan. While the 38-year-old sportsperson has achieved remarkable milestones in his career, Shikhar has faced a lot of troubles in his personal life. One of the greatest being the agony of not meeting his only son, Zoravar.
On Father’s Day, Shikhar took to his Instagram account and shared a picture with his father, Mahendra Pal Dhawan and son, Zoravar. The trio was seen dressed in traditional attire as they posed for the lens sitting on a cot. The cricketer first wished his father on the occasion and further added that this day has been emotional for him as he has no contact with his son. His note can be read as:
“Wishing my dad a very Happy Father’s Day. Thank you for everything. Also, It’s an emotional Father’s Day for me without hearing from my son, as I have no contact with him so wishing Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers experiencing the same feeling. Sending love and positivity to them.”

Shikhar Dhawan was granted divorce from his former wife, Aesha Mukerji by the Delhi Court in October 2023 on the grounds of ‘cruelty’ and ‘mental agony’ inflicted on him by his ex-wife. The court had ordered Aesha to bring their son to India for visitation purposes and also granted Shikhar mandatory visitation rights to meet Zoravar in India and Australia. Meanwhile, in December 2023, on his son’s birthday, he shared a heartfelt note expressing how he had not met his son for over a year.
Earlier in 2024, the cricketer sat for an interview with the Humans of Bombay. During their conversation, Shikhar talked about his ‘detached’ relationship with his 10-year-old son. He said that he wrote messages to his son every day, but he doesn’t have any expectations of his son reading those texts ultimately. In his words:
“Wherever he is, I hope he is happy, hopefully one day he will come and see me. I am in love with him but at the same time, I am also detached. I don't want to push him. I write messages to him every day, I don't know whether he is receiving those or not, whether he is reading it or not. I don't have any expectations. I have accepted it. I am a father, and I am trying to do my duty. I miss him, I feel sad but I have learnt to live with it.”
