The traditional festival of colours, Holi is at our doorsteps, but before it comes, most of the states in India are gearing up to celebrate Holika Dahan today, i.e, March 7, 2023. While most Indians will celebrate the festival today, in some parts of the country, Holika Dahan was celebrated yesterday, i.e, March 6, 2023. One such family was of Bollywood actress, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who celebrated the auspicious festival of Holika Dahan with her husband, Raj Kundra and their kids, Viaan and Samisha.

Video of Shilpa Shetty Kundra's 'Holika Dahan' ceremony at home received backlash

On March 6, 2023, Shilpa Shetty Kundra took to her Instagram handle and shared a video in which she can be seen celebrating the auspicious festival of Holika Dahan with her family. The actress looked stunning in a pink suit and could be seen praying in front of the Holika. In the video, Viaan and Samisha can also be spotted worshipping while standing in front of Holika placed on their lawn. Not only this, but Shilpa’s mother was also there to be a part of her daughter’s Holika Dahan ceremony. Along with the video, Shilpa penned a long note in the caption, and an excerpt from the same can be read as :

"This is a ritual we do every year on Holika dahan. This festival reminds us that with faith and devotion, God always protects you and you will always triumph over evil burning negativity to ashes and filling your life with colours of positivity and love."

However, as soon as the video was posted on Instagram, several netizens started trolling and bashing Shilpa Shetty Kundra for burning bamboo. Despite being such a big celebrity, the actress was heavily criticised for not taking care of things, as people schooled her to be more responsible with her actions. As a result, the comment section of Shilpa’s post was bombarded with hate and troll comments. Not only this, but netizens also condemned the actress for wearing jootis while praying in front of Holika. While one user wrote, "Baans nahin jalate hain ji Hindu dharam mein or saath he chappal juute pehen kar agni mein kuch nahin jalate", another netizen commented, "Aapko shayad ye gyat nahin ki Hindu dharm mein baans kabhi bhi jalaya nahin jata. Kripiya karke jankari rakhe."
