Contrary to the general reaction of the children on their parents' divorce, Shruti Haasan revealed why she was excited for her parents' separation in 2004.
Shruti Haasan shares a great relationship with her father, Kamal Haasan and that is quite evident in their interactions with the media. She also confides to her father for advice regarding personal and professional decisions. There was a split between Shruti and her mother, Sarika as Shruti was close to Gauthami, the then live-in partner of Kamal Haasan. However, the mother-daughter duo mended ways and got back to each other in 2011.

Kamal Haasan and Sarika tied the knot in 1988 after being in a live-in relationship. However, things did not go well between the duo and they decided to part ways. Their 16 years of togetherness came to an end in 2004. Shruti Haasan was a teenager back then and the couple also has a younger daughter, Akshara Haasan.
In an interview with Zoom Digital, Shruti opened up about her reaction to her parents' divorce. The actress revealed that she is glad that the duo parted ways because if things don't go well between two people, there is no reason to stay together forcefully. She said, "I was just excited for them to live their own lives. I was glad that they separated as I do not think that two people who are not getting along, should stay together forcefully."

Shruti Haasan also shared about her relationship with both parents, Kamal Haasan and Sarika and said, "They continue to be wonderful parents. I am particularly close to my dad. My relationship with my mum is pretty good as well and she is also a part of our lives. It actually panned out for the best." Shruti has been financially independent and in an interview with the Hindustan Times, once said, "I don't have daddy or mommy helping me, I pay my own bills, so I have no choice but to get back to work when it resumes."
Shruti also shares a very good bond with her sister, Akshara Haasan. The actress had also taken to her Instagram handle while sharing a picture with her father and sister to create awareness on voting and captioned it as "Time to vote!!! @aksharaa.haasan @ikamalhaasan #mnm #torchlight"
Shruti had made her Bollywood debut with the film Ramaiya Vastavaiya, opposite Girish Kumar, and is nowadays keeping herself busy with the dubbing sessions at her home.
