The Pakistani cricketer stated that Babar Azam and Shubman Gill have the quality to break Virat's record of 50 ODI hundreds. As soon as his comment went live on the internet, he was trolled for mentioning Babar, as Shubman replaced him as the world's number 1 ranked ODI batter back in November 2023.

While Shubman's father, Lakhwinder Singh was an agriculturist, not much is known about his mother, Keart Gill's profession. However, only some people know that Shubman's father, Lakhwinder Singh, always wanted to be a cricketer, but he wasn't financially sound back then.
As a result, when Lakhwinder Singh's son showed interest in cricket, the doting dad did everything to make Shubman Gill a professional cricketer. From teaching him many things about cricket to becoming his first coach and giving him training, Lakhwinder Singh even moved his entire family to Mohali in 2007 to provide more opportunities to Shubman. All the hard work and patience of Lakhwinder paid off when Shubman represented India for the first time on January 31, 2019, in an ODI against New Zealand.
In an interactive session with Star Sports India, Shubman Gill was asked about the reason behind his jersey number 77. The cricketer was asked why he chose such a big double-digit number in an era when cricketers usually prefer single-digit numbers. In response to the question, Shubman revealed that when he was playing in the U-19 World Cup, he asked for the number 7, but it was taken. As a result, he chose number 77, which has two sevens.
In the same interview with Star Sports India, Shubman Gill was asked to reveal his nickname. While a lot of people were anxiously waiting for a funny name, Shubman shared that he is called by the name, Kaka by his family members. The cricketer further added that in Punjabi, 'Kaka' means 'baby'. However, as soon as his revelation made its way to the internet, people started jokingly comparing him with the famous Punjabi singer Kaka.

When Shubman Gill was asked whom he calls right after the end of every match, the Indian cricketer took his father, Lakhwinder Singh's name. The doting son admitted that he straightaway calls his dad after every match.
As per multiple reports, Shubman Gill's annual salary, which he receives from the BCCI, is around Rs. 1 crore. The cricketer earns Rs. 15 lakh for a single Test match, while for the ODI, he earns Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 3 lakh for a single T20I. The cricketer has earned Rs. 23 crores from IPL and does a lot of brand work too, contributing to his whooping net worth. If the reports are to be believed, Shubman Gill's net worth is around the estimated sum of Rs. 31 crore.
