Once, Shweta Bachchan revealed an interesting anecdote from her initial days in Delhi after her marriage to Nikhil Nanda and shared how difficult it was for her to manage her expenses. She stated that she used to work as an assistant teacher at a kindergarten and earned around Rs. 3,000 a month. In her words:
"I was borrowing money from Abhishek Bachchan not just in college but in school also... for buying food, and food. When you are in boarding school, it (food) is the number one commodity you can't live without... I was never educated on all this (managing finances). Then when I got married, and I was in Delhi, I had a job as an assistant teacher in a kindergarten, Learning Tree. There I got a salary, I think it was Rs 3000 a month. I put it in a bank."

In 2018, Shweta Bachchan turned author with the novel, Paradise Towers. However, she couldn't succeed in her writing career and also couldn't take the bad reviews for the book well. Talking about dealing with failure, in one of the episodes of What The Hell Navya, Shweta said that it took her a long time to overcome that, and she stopped writing. She added:
“I wrote a book. It’s not like it made it became a bestseller or anything, but I’m not that person who can just bounce back up and say, ‘Okay, I am going to…’. I take it personally if there are bad reviews. I can’t see it objectively that okay someone may not have liked it. It took me a very long time…like I just stopped writing and it made me doubt myself.”
Shweta Bachchan got married to industrialist, Nikhil Nanda in 1997, and the two are blessed with two kids, Navya Naveli Nanda and Agastya Nanda. Shweta was just 21 years old when she tied the knot with Nikhil, who belongs to the Kapoor family. However, after a few years of her marriage, Shweta left Delhi and came back to Mumbai to live with her parents, raising a lot of questions about her married life. Not only this, if rumours are to be believed, Shweta and Nikhil are separated but aren’t divorced to save the Bachchan clan’s reputation.
