Born in an army family, Simi went on to charm everyone with her breathtaking looks, polished personality and phenomenal acting chops. After spending a major portion of her growing up years in England, she landed on her first film project, an English language film titled Tarzan Goes To India, particularly based on her superb English-speaking fluency. She was paired opposite to talented actor, Feroz Khan for the same. Thereafter, she went on to star in some highly acclaimed films, such as Do Badan, Mera Naam Joker, Aranyer Din Ratri, Namak Haraam, Kabhi Kabhie among others. Speaking about her personal life, Simi was in a serious relationship with the Maharaja of Jamnagar, and thereafter with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, before she finally tied the knot with Ravi Mohan in 1970. However, nine years later, the duo got separated.
Despite having such a flourishing acting career, it is her personal life on the contrary, where she faced quite a bit of trials and tribulations. Simi’s first tryst with love came about at the age of 17, when she was captivated by the charms of her neighbour, the Maharaja of Jamnagar. The duo had a passionate yet turbulent affair, which lasted for a period of three years. While it didn’t turn fruitful as she and the Maharaja broke up later, nevertheless, Simi never shied away from recounting the special moments of her life which she spent with the latter. For instance, back in 2013, Simi, in an interview with Filmfare had candidly spoken about that phase of her personal life and mentioned:
“At 17, I fell in love with my neighbour – the Maharaja of Jamnagar. It was a turbulent and passionate affair that lasted for three years. He showed me a wonderful world of animals, sports and food. Of passion and compassion… we did mad, crazy things but it grew obsessive. I look back at it now with a smile. But I realised what possessiveness could do to a relationship. It cured me forever of jealousy in love.”
