Salman and Aishwarya impressed many fans with their chemistry in the film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and it was during the shoots that love blossomed between them. However, as destiny had it, the duo parted ways, but their fans refuse to move on from their love story and still manifest to see them being cordial with each other.
In an old interview, Smita Jayakar talked about Aishwarya Rai and Salman Khan's relationship and shared that the duo had initially started dating while they were shooting for the film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam together. Revealing how Salman and Aishwarya's love banter used to grab their attention on the sets, Smita said:
“At that time, their love story had just started. It blossomed there, so it was showing, and it worked very well for the film. I remembered one scene from the song Aankhon Ki Gustakhiya, where Salman had to go all the way around as Ash was standing next to me. So Sanjay goes and touches her (Ash) like this, and he (Salman) goes and says, 'Sanjay Sir, why did you touch her? You are not supposed to do that.' You know how you feel in new love, it was all that feeling. Their eyes used to twinkle, we used to watch them, we were observers."
