Smita Patil was one of the most sought-after actresses of her generation. She earned much recognition during her brief acting journey and was hailed for her exceptional acting skills. Smita was extremely popular in Hindi and Marathi cinema and is still remembered with much respect. In her career spanning just over a decade, Smita gave exceptional performances in many films like Manthan, Bhumika, Jait Re Jait, Aakrosh, Namak Halaal, Satya, Mirch Masala, and others.
On the occasion of Smita Patil's 37th death anniversary, a senior from the film industry sat for a candid conversation with the ETimes and shared an anecdote about the actress' professionalism. In the film, Dance Dance, released in 1987, Smita played the role of Mithun Chakraborty's sister. The insider revealed that Smita announced her pregnancy shortly before the shoot of the song, Super Dancer, began.

Smita Patil was aware of the film's dance-centric theme, which revolved around the brother-sister relationship, so she proposed shooting her close-up shots. Moreover, the actress even suggested wearing loose attire to conceal her baby bump. Smita was so committed to the project that she didn't want to take maternity leave, as it would have affected the film and the team. The senior, who witnessed Smita's professionalism on the sets, shared:
"B.Subhash agreed, and 'Super Dancer' was shot with her radiant face, reflecting the charm of motherhood. My very dear friend Jagdish Aurangabadkar was the PRO of the film and I attended the shooting of 'Dance Dance' several times, and she would always greet Jagdish in chaste Marathi.”
Veteran actor, Raj Babbar tied the knot with Nadira Zaheer in 1975, with whom he has two children, Juhi Babbar and Arya Babbar. Smita Patil passed away at the tender age of 31, leaving everyone shocked. It was on December 13, 1986, after 15 days of giving birth to her son, Prateik Babbar, that the gorgeous actress left for the heavenly abode due to some childbirth complications. However, if reports are to be believed, Smita had told before her death that she wanted to be cremated as a suhagan. So, after her death, Smita's last wish was fulfilled, and she was dressed as a bride for her last rites.
