Snehal Rai On Losing 4-Month-Old Son Rudra, Becoming A Skeleton And How An Orphanage Visit Saved Her

In a recent interview, television actress, Snehal Rai opened up about the sudden death of her 4-month-old son, Rudra and how she managed to come out of the trauma that followed after it.

Snehal Rai is a popular television actress, who has worked in a series of famous shows like Ishq Ka Rang Safed, Janmo Ka Bandhan, Vish, Ichhapyaari Naagin, and Perfect Pati. The actress is happily married to famous politician, Madhvendra Rai. Despite having a huge age difference of 21 years, Snehal and Madhvendra are so much in love with each other. However, the actress is leading all the headlines after opening up for the first time about the heartbreaking demise of her four-month-old son, Rudra, in an interview.

Snehal Rai reveals she lost her first son, Rudra due to illness when he was just 4 months old

In a heart-to-heart conversation with ETimes TV, Snehal Rai opened up about the demise of her son, Rudra when he was just four months old. Recalling the traumatic phase, the actress revealed that she lost her son due to some serious illness. The actress admitted that it was one of the lowest points of her life, and there came a time when she started blaming herself for the same. Snehal recalled how she locked herself in a room for a week and started thinking her life was finished. She said:

"I had a son after marriage. We lost him due to an illness when he was 4-month-old. His name was Rudra. I was locked in the room for a week. I would just go to the washroom and sit on my bed. I don’t remember eating. Life was finished for me."

Snehal Rai recalls becoming a skeleton after her 4-month-old son’s death

Further, in the same interview, Snehal Rai stated that losing a child is equal to a hundred deaths and the sort of pain a person experiences is impossible to explain in words. The actress also added that she was sinking into a dark phase, but one of her friends shook her back to reality and made her realise that she has almost become a skeleton. Snehal revealed that she was unable to process the reality that her son, Rudra is no longer with her. Revealing how she was 40 kgs at that time, Snehal said:

"Losing a child is equal to hundred deaths. I had a friend who shook me back to reality. I was 40kgs, became a skeleton. I felt doing make-up was a sin, how could I show my face to the world?"

Snehal Rai says she wants to be the mother of 1000-2000 kids, not biologically

In the same interview, Snehal Rai also opened up about the way how she came out of that dark phase. Revealing the same, the actress stated that she once visited an orphanage, and it changed her entire view about life and having kids. The actress admitted that she is in the process of opening an NGO in memory of her late son. Snehal also added that she wanted to be a mother of 1000-2000 kids, who are in need. Sharing her thoughts about the same, she said:

"Once I went to an orphanage and one kid hugged me and addressed me as ‘Aai’. That gave me the kick to bounce back in life. I am in the process of opening up an NGO – Rudrakalp Creations. So either I lament about it or become a mother to those kids. I chose the second. I want to make this smile contagious for those kids. I want to be a mother to 1000-2000 kids and I don’t mean it biologically. I want to make the future of those kids, who are in need. I am a mother. Rudra made me a mother and left."

Snehal Rai on her politician-husband, Madhvendra Rai’s reaction to their 4-month-old son, Rudra’s death

When Snehal Rai was asked to reveal the way her politician-husband, Madhvendra Rai reacted to the tragedy, the doting wife lauded her hubby. The actress admitted that when their son passed away, her husband was busy due to his political work, but even then, he managed to be in touch with her via video calls. Snehal stated that Madhvendra encouraged her to divert her mind and advised her to join acting classes. Recalling the same, she said:

"I feel we are glad about the age gap. The way he handled me that time, it was with a lot of maturity. He was very busy but would be throughout with me on video calls. He told me to keep myself busy. That time I enrolled in Anupam Kher’s acting classes."
