Sobhita Dhulipala repeated jewellery from her film, 'Ponniyin Selvan: I' for her wedding with Naga Chaitanya. From Aishwarya Rai's temple necklace to Trisha Krishnan's choker and more.
Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala's long-awaited union was celebrated in a wedding that was both intimate and grand, held at the prestigious Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. The event was a lavish affair, a testament to their love and commitment, and a grand display of honouring their elders and seeking blessings from the divine. The eight-hour-long Tamil-Brahmin wedding rituals added a touch of grandeur to the celebration, making it a truly memorable event. Sobhita, for her special day, was clad in gold jewellery from head to toe.
Sobhita Dhulipala was a vision decked in gold for her wedding. She wore a gold Kanjeevaram saree, which was reportedly designed by Neeta Lulla. Talking about her magnum jewellery, Sobhita honoured her Telugu roots as she wore real gold jewellery from head to toe. Coming to her accessories, Sobhita wore an array of necklaces, but two of them in specific shared uncanny resemblance with the jewellery worn by Aishwarya Rai and Trisha Krishnan in the film, Ponniyin Selvan: I.
Sobhita was also a part of the film, and it made many wonder if she repeated the jewellery from the film or if she custom-made it. Talking about the jewellery in question, Sobhita wore the same long necklace as Aishwarya Rai did in PS-1. It featured a gold necklace with an intricate criss-cross pattern with a gold coin design all along the length. The necklace even has gold beads on one end.
Sobhita also wore a broad gold choker with ruby detailing. The choker also had diamonds on it, and it even had a huge locket attached to it, featuring glass and emerald patchwork. The choker was the exact same as the one, actress, Trisha Krishnan wore in Ponniyin Selvan-1.
Sobhita's bridal look was a unique blend of tradition and style. She adorned a Baasikam, a significant thread in Telugu weddings that is tied to the forehead of the bride and the groom to draw all attention to the subha muhurat. Her look was further accentuated with a mathapatti, a Bullaki (specturm nose ring), a kundan choker in jalebi design, a mangoharam haar, and a huge matar mala.
Sobhita also styled her bridal look with a vaddanam (waist belt), a must-wear for a South Indian bride, and a gold vankii (arm belt). Her look was further completed with Surya and Chandra motifs on her hair, symbolising cosmic blessings and balance, ensuring harmony in the newly-wed couple's life.
